cool, I noticed the following:  "OpenEx charges a trade fee of 0.5% and a withdrawal fee of 0.02%."

I'm completely new to the coin industry, and have yet to make a coin trade so my ignorance level is fantastically high but is that a competitive rate?

If you want a comparision, Cryptsy charges 0.2% to buy and 0.3% to sell. Not sure about withdrawal fees but at last check it was .001%. But there could be advantages to paying higher fees if for example the trading platform is stable and fast or if the coin you are interested in trading is priced at a level advantageous to your trading objectives.

indeed, after reading more about Cryptsy I was very impressed by the CEO, his background, and especially his hands on high viability role. it tempered my reservations concerning some of the public complaints I saw on his site.

However, BTC-e appears to have a flat rate of .2%

From a vid I saw coinbase has a fee of 1% with a bank fee too, I was not able to confirm if they adjusted their rate because I could not find a fee schedule at their site.

Nevertheless the list of exchanges is a long one http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/markets/info, those who choose to enter the space should highlight the distinctions so that the value is apparent and subsequently appreciated.

Here is that same .5% package with very attractive wrap: https://coinmkt.com/#/maker_taker
