The Break Room / Ahhhh Snow!!!

I hate snow lol but it's snowing out right now. I want too be down south, this weather up north sucks :) Just can't get my wife to move, she always says it's to hot down there.  She's a damn Yankee never been south for more than a week or so at anytime lol Give me the backwoods away from the cities and I'll be happy :)

I know it's on the forum some place, I just can't find it.  At least I think we had a estimate some place as far as months or something. To help give people an idea when halving would happen.

I was on gldcoin.com and of course it has what was done so far.  But there's no estimate when the next reduction is other than stating "Reward is then reduced each year using the following formula: 50 divided by (1.1 + 0.49*every year thereafter)"

Around when will GoldCoin payouts be reduced?

The Break Room / Digital Currency - Is it Income?

Anyone good with the Laws about digital currency. By that I mean, Say someone mines a bunch of GoldCoins and sells them for BTC and then cashes out. What laws are there, Taxes etc. this is for people in the US of course. We know at some point in time Uncle Sam will want something from everyone that mines or gets any digital currency.

This is something I don't see many people talking about. What Laws do we need to follow, are there taxes that people need to pay? All that good stuff that no one likes to talk about. I know at some point it is going to be something everyone will need to know about.

Lets say you mined a boat load of GoldCoin it's worth so much $xxxx.xx so you need to pay so much in taxes.
Are you mining as a business? Pay taxes etc. on mining income?
When do you claim it as income when you turn into US Dollars?

Theses are things I've been thinking about from a business point of view. Right now is a digital currency really income? Or is it income only when you turn it into cash?  Because I was thinking any digital currency isn't income until you cash it in. But on the other hand you can buy products and services with it. So when is it income? All this just makes your head spin. ::)

Another thought: Is it income? I mean how can one say it's income when all you did was turn you PC or Rig on? No one gave you a job and no one is paying you to do a job. So is it income?

Just some random thoughts, as you can tell.

I was checking the price of Bitcoin and it dropped fast it's at $930. During this post it went down to $925.

This brings me to something Microguy said. People are happy with him when GoldCoin is up but get mad at him because the price is down.

We are talking pennies when GoldCoins price moves or or down. How you would you like to be the people that paid $1,300 for Bitcoin and now it's at $ $925?

This happens to every coin the prices moves up and down and it's something you got to deal with. It all part of any coin not just GoldCoin or bitcoin.

Just hod your GoldCoins and pick some other coin or coins and hold some of them as well. Yes we'd all like GoldCoins value to be as much as LiteCoin. But GoldCoin is still young and it won't happen overnight, it will take time and you need to understand the value will move way up and way down at times. I can tell you right now the lower bitcoin is the lower all coins well be and that means GoldCoin as well.

Heck when that wall was on Cryptsy at 0.00010000 that's about what .09 cents per GoldCoin I bought a chunk of it and now GoldCoin is around .05 cents.  Who should I be mad at? No one, I bought them and now the price is down at some point it will go back up.

It's like playing the stock market stocks go and stocks go down. But you need to hold them for them to pay off.  So your going to have your good days and your bad days. And GoldCoin is going to have them like it or not. If someone can't take the up and down value of any digital currency they shouldn't bother mining or buying coins. Because you may make a profit and then again you may not. I even have coins I mined and the vale is "0" that's zero it's all part of it. Either you can deal with it or you can't.

End of my rant LOL

Now you can agree with me, tell to stuff it or call me names, what ever. :) But please don't get mad at people just because the value moves up and down. Not one of us can say it'll go up and keep moving up. If I knew what a coin was going to do and when I'd have billions and I wouldn't be here trying to help support GoldCoin.

The Break Room / My wife likes Digital Currency now

Well I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing. But I was on a site looking at parts for a rig and my wife said what's that site? So I told her it's a  site and they sell stuff like any other site and they accept digital currency. Boy was that a mistake, she started asking questions so I told her. What do you think I've been doing on the computer all this time, Playing around and doing nothing? She said yes of course.

So she sat here and looked at the site for a good hour almost 2 and NOW she wants all kinds of stuff lol I told her I don't have that much you can't get all of that. Now she thinks digital currency is free and I can get as much as I want. Well you can turn your computer on and get some can't you?

Anyway long story short she understands you can really buy products with digital currency like fiat money. She just thought I was wasting my time and couldn't do anything with digital currency, it wasn't real money. So if your married and your wife thinks your nuts. Go to a site and buy something she'll change her mind about mining real fast LOL....

I can't wait for the day I can use GoldCoin and buy what I need :)

I was thinking what should Goldcoins value be? So I thought okay there's 21 Mill. BTC and 123,432,900 Goldcoins so this is what I did.

123,432,900 / 21000000 = 5.877328571428571

Then I took BTC at $829 (value when I checked)

$829 / 5.877328571428571 = $141.0504772576462

If we base the value that way Goldcoin should be around $141.00.

 I was trying to give myself and idea of what we could expect as far as a value. Because we all know the value will be based in part on BTC for a long time.

And I think it gives everyone a goal to reach and something we can say it should be, more or less. Unless there's someone that knows more or has a way of estimating the value other than the way I did it. I'm still new at this so my numbers and way of thinking about a value could be way off.

I'm not taking into account there's no real market place or anything that Goldcoin is being used for at this time. It's in the works I hope someone will set up a market place or more sites start accepting Goldcoins to help give it more value.


With that said, What do you think Goldcoin will or should be at?

The Break Room / AOL pulling the plug on Winamp & Shoutcast

AOL is out of it's mind it's closing Winamp and they'll be closing Shoutcast. Do they know how many sites they are going to hurt by doing this? There's a lot of sites I know of that host Shoutcast, the sites that give you free shoutcast for broadcasting and on and on. I guess they aren't happy with the $6 mill a year in advertising they get from Winamp. That's a real good reason to close something, It's only making us $6 million a year, who needs it?

I don't know about people that run companies these days. They have got to be some of the dumbest people on the planet. No clue as to what their doing or why it seems. I know people that could make Winamp and Shoutcast a better product/service. But no one can do anything. Because "They have the Copyrights" and get all bent out of shape if someone writes a program that will make it work better. You can say,I did this for what ever and they'll say  "We own the copyright, you can't do that or we'll sue you" bunch of dummies running the company.

Don't think it'll affect my stream. But now I'll need to learn Icecast, don't think it's that hard. But I've been using Shoutcast for so long it's easy. :)
