Except that Silkroad ran on tor and that didn't stop the FBI from finding them.. twice

True anonymity cannot be achieved in the internet.. current means of anonymity rely on obfuscation - the act of obscuring or hiding relevant details that are needed to find you. The net , by its very nature, requires that any given two nodes identify themselves uniquely in order to connect to each other. Without taking this vital aspect of the net away, one cannot be anonymous ever.
GoldCoin along with most existing crypto-currencies provide a high level of anonymity already though. It's called a wallet address

Currencies like "Anoncoin" have propped up claiming to provide even higher level of anonymity by also obscuring transactions in the blockchain.
However we see this "innovation" as a deadly mistake. The only means we GoldCoin developers(or rather cryptocurrency devs in general) have of knowing/preventing/reversing attacks on the blockchain are by following suspicious looking transactions (ie: to look for double spends). This would become impossible with "Anoncoin"'s implementation.
If you wish to be anonymous, all you need to do is:
1. Keep your wallet in a location only you know of.
2. Generate new addresses for each incoming transaction.
These two very simple steps will make it virtually impossible to identify you.
All anyone will know is that an address A, which you can plausibly deny is yours, has transferred Y amount of coins to an address B.
Thus everyone will know that a transaction happened and the volume of the transaction.. but not necessarily the parties involved.
