It would be neat to have a massive multiplayer game with a goldcoin economy.
There are some games with real economies, for example Second life, but it is mostly based on advertising to get the money into the game.
What if the game server acted as a mining pool and the game client had a built in mining client?
That way every player would contribute hash power to the network without even know about it and the economy in the game would grow.
Players could buy and sell ingame items from the game or from other players with goldcoins and while hunting or performing different tasks earn goldcoins or find valuable items.
The miner engine would only use some of the computer power while the player plays so it wouldnt slow down the game and it doesnt have to be high end graphics effects and stuff in the game (could be something like runescape or whatever).
There would be an "AFK"-mode (like in conquer if you know of that game) where the player for example enters a mine and start mining for ores. Many people would leave the computer on the whole night standing there mining and in this mode some more power would be used by the mining client to provide more hashpower to the pool.
Tell me what you think about it!
Any game developer out there who wanna catch up on the idea let me know
