Edit .exe and .dll files - Program?

Anyone know of a good free program I can use to edit .exe and .dll files? I want to see if I can make some changes to ScryptMiner GUI and make it work using Stratum. But the way it's set up you can only use http://URL.com  and it's in the files. So I need to edit them.

To make the changes you propose, it may be necessary to edit the source files at https://github.com/Matoking/ScryptMiner-GUI.

The last time this source was changed was 1 year ago.  At this time the cpuminer (minerd) did not support stratum.  The latest version of the cpuminer does support stratum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55038.0). 

It may not be necessary to specify stratum+tcp in the URL to the pool to use stratum.
