Freenode banned my IP for running Goldcoin

I have been running Goldcoin, and mining with the Goldcoin client.  I recently tried to get onto IRC and found I was banned.  When I created a support ticket to find out why, here is what I received:

It looks like this ban was triggered because you started a goldcoin client that
was misconfigured to bootstrap from IRC. I've removed the ban, but you'll need
to block the client from connecting to freenode or configure it not to
bootstrap from IRC, otherwise the ban will be recreated when the client
restarts.

I'm not sure if the mining caused the problem or if it was just for running Goldcoin client.

IRC seeding is being phased out of the Goldcoin client. I believe the currently available windows client published at gldcoin.com has IRC seeding turned off. I have linked akumaburn to this thread and we should be able to get confirmation shortly.

Yes sorry about that.. it appears someone complained to freenode (probably one of our competitors) and they placed an autoban on our irc seeding channel.

You can still access freenode through their webchat: http://webchat.freenode.net/

Alternatively you could wait for the ban to expire (albeit im not sure how long it is).

I got banned/k-lined too.  Bitcoin hasn't used IRC for seeding in a long time.  When are you guys going to resolve this?

We are preparing an update for release which will be published shortly.

A simple return on line 211 of irc.cpp would of fixed your woes...

I've gone ahead and done it for you.

Sorry we expect our linux users to be a little more used to configuring things, I am at the moment focused on other things which is why I haven't been keen to upload new builds with IRC seeding disabled, alternatively you can disable irc in the configuration file or via command line with "-irc 0".

The previous build of the Windows client used IRC for seeding. ()

This behavior has been disabled by default in the latest Windows update.
