Title: Gauging Interest on a Physical GLDcoin
Post by: stemis on November 26, 2013, 09:57:30 AM
I am in talks with a couple of coin manufactures on the physical minting of an actual 'GLDcoin' for selling to the community.  My intention is to not assign GLD to the GLDcoins that are minted due to legal reasons, but I thought it would be a great way to show support.

Details are still being worked out, but it looks at though the coin itself will just be Gold (real) plated, around another less expensive metal in order to keep the costs lower for me.

I am soliciting ideas for designs.  I will pay a few GLDcoins for the winning design if anyone shows interest.

I like your idea. Just to let you know the official name of the coin is GoldCoin™.

I understand the official name, I was trying not to confuse myself or others who might misinterpret that I was making physical Gold coins made of 100% gold.

But mainly I wrote it that way as to not confuse myself :)

Okay. We transitioned from GLDCoin to GoldCoin a few months back. Just wanted to get that out there!  8)

Thanks Hamuki!  I am toying with making them cheaper ($8-10 per coin) so that people can purchased by all members of the community.  Also, I want to be the make sure that I offer payment with GoldCoins, or paypal.

Lastly, I am working with bringing the price down while somehow making the coins unique.  More to come as I work with the coin developers after the US Thanksgiving holiday.  Still looking for coin design images if anyone is bored.

zeefroggy is pretty good with 3-dimensional designs using blender software. Don't know how busy he is, but worth giving him a shout.

It should be gold colored... but then again, we can just say that it's "white" gold.

The next question is how much I should order.  Obviously, the more I order the better the overall price, but my funds are limited.   I am thinking about ordering the first batch of about 100 to 200 and seeing the community reaction/interest.

Yes, you will be able to pay with GoldCoins.  In fact, I am looking forward to a GoldCoin checkout system as opposed to people just pm'ing me on the forums.  I'll keep everyone updated with my progress as the week progresses.
