Title: Making a Back up
Post by: Aqua-life on November 27, 2013, 03:09:37 PM
Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could help me.
I would like to re-install the goldcoin client, because it does not sync at the moment. I made a backup of my wallet, but i cannot find anywhere how to import a back up. Could someone explain to me how i should do this?

Thanks in advance!  :D

No problem, all you need to do is:

1. Close GoldCoin Client (make sure it's closed in the tray as well)
2. Copy paste the wallet.dat file that you backed up into the appdata Goldcoin folder..

On windows Vista/7/8 it should be under:

"C:\Users\[Your Windows Account Name Here]\AppData\Roaming\GoldCoin (GLD)"

3. Start the client again and your coins should be there.

Thanks! I tried to re-install the client, but it still does not sync with the network. In the bottom right corner it says: 0 active connection(s).
What could be the problem here?

I am from India. I also face the same problem of '0 active connection'. Even though, I've all the nodes specified in '.conf' file as mentioned all over this forum.

I found a workaround for this issue for myself. I've a VPS hosted in US. I connect to it via SSH and make a tunnel, then configure the Goldcoin client to 'sock 5 proxy'. This immediately shows 16 active connection and syncs flawlessly.

This workaround may not be applicable to all, as not everyone posses the access to SSH tunnel. But one of the ways to get the client sync.
