Title: Wallet always out of sync?
Post by: thegambler on December 01, 2013, 09:48:50 PM
After I downloaded the update, my wallet always stays out of sync and the green bar is not at the bottom? I am not able to receive coins as someone sent me .25 goldcoins but I never got them? It was working fine before the update, but ever since I updated it, it always shows out sync?

Any ideas on how to fix?

It also shows 0 active connection(s) to Goldcoin (GLD) Network, so I think that might be the problem, just don't know how to fix? any ideas?

The update is working correctly. :)

Please allow 60 minutes for the wallet to fully sync then try again.

You could try saving a copy of your wallet.dat that exists in c:\users\thegambler\appdata\roaming\GoldCoin (GLD), uninstalling, deleting this directory completely and then reinstalling.

Just MAKE SURE you save a couple copies of your wallet.dat so you can replace the one that is put in c:\users\thegambler\appdata\roaming\GoldCoin (GLD) after the reinstall.

Then it will sync from the beginning.

I'd go with MicroGuy's suggestion over mine as he's far smarter than I am.  Uglier yes...but far smarter.

The wallet is not in the process of syncing though? There is no green bar at the bottom that shows syncing?

Why does my wallet show 0 active connections to the goldcoin network? I think that might be the problem, and I have left it open for multiple hours, but still nothing

Multiple hours?  The new code was released at 8:21 and it's now 10:08.  You have version 7.1.7 right?

The reason I suggested to wait 60 minutes is to allow the client plenty of time to find peers. The client will not sync until it finds peers. It that fails, then you might be experiencing network connectivity issues.

I have already updated 4 machines and the update is working fine.

I just updated and didn't have any problems.

You might want to backup your wallet info, remove the client and reinstall it with the new release. I've done it before when there was an update and I had trouble with it.

It wasn't released hours ago? I got a message from the wallet on my desktop saying I need to update before block 11k or something?

But I have windows 8 and am having troubles getting to the app data to copy and modify?

There is also the possibility that you are operating in a parallel reality using a different time scale as 15 minutes has passed for me since I provided my instructions but 60 minutes has passed for you. lol  :)

Is there anyway you could Teamviewer me or something and help sort this out? I have no idea what the problem is and don't want to take a risk losing my goldcoins, especially not after them climbing to such a rate as now

Be very careful man.  Ok.  Don't delete your wallet.dat file.

You likely have to turn on hidden files and folders.  Just google it for Windows 8.

Honestly that's a BAD idea for anyone to do here.  No one else should take accountability for your stuff other than you.  Just relax...go smoke a cigarette.  Come back to it later.

You can also backup your wallet file by going to File/Backup Wallet and save it to a location like your Desktop.

It still doesn't work, after an hour waiting it still shows not syncing and 0 active connections to goldcoin network

I backed up my wallet data file and deleted the wallet then reinstalled the updated version, replaced the wallet data with mine, but now my coins show up unconfirmed and still not syncing?

I think the problem is the 0 active connections to the goldcoin network, but even after reinstalling and waiting an hour, it still doesn't work... Any ideas?

try to close your wallet  then go to  C: users/owner/appdata/roaming/goldcoin    in there delete your peers.dat file  then reopen your wallet and see if that helps.  I just updated and already have 40 connections

it did not work, any other ideas for why I have 0 active connections?

Still not working, I even tried using a peers.dat file from someone else's wallet, did not work. What is going on? My goldcoins have been unconfirmed for days because of my 0 Active Connections to Goldcoin Network, how do I fix this?

It sounds like the client is unable to access the WAN.

I'd suggest looking into possible software/hardware firewalls that may be blocking the client port and/or migrating your wallet to a machine on a different network.

How would I do this? Migrating it to another network or even seeing if the firewalls are blocking it. It seems as many people are having this issue

To my knowledge, there are no other open reports of this issue. I think the first step is in realizing that it's not an issue with the client and then proceeding from there.  Tell me more about your network in as much detail as possible.

Also, open the client and click Help > About Goldcoin (GLD) and tell me what version you're running.

I mean tell me about your network, about the devices, the wiring, etc.  8)

Also go here and see if port 8121 is "open": http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Port 8121 is closed?

That's your problem. Now all we need to do is open it. If you are running firewalls, make an exception for that port and the client application.

I'll need detailed information about your system and network to help further.
