Title: http://gld.cloudmines.net - New GoldCoin Pool
Post by: CircuitSix on December 05, 2013, 08:34:23 AM
This pool just went up a few days ago, it is hosted on a cloud server and resources can be allocated on the fly. This should ensure that there is minimum delay and will be able to handle rapid growth if needed. Of course this is a new pool so there are only a few workers at this time, hopefully some of you will give us a hand in getting it thriving.

Im not too familiar with mac mini but this is something you could try
http://blog.nwoolls.com/2013/04/24/bitcoin-mining-on-mac-os-x-cgminer-bfgminer/

BTC and NMC are both SHA256 while GLD is Scrypt, I am suspecting there may be a config problem.

This may actually be better suited, you need to turn the scrypt option on:

run cpuminer like this (replace username, worker and password with your own)
minerd.exe --algo=scrypt --url=stratum+tcp://gld.cloudmines.net:3333 --userpass=username.worker:password

Thanks dille71. Cloudmines is a stratum only server.

Started mining with your pool last night to try it out. Seemed to work great all night, even found 2 blocks. Hoping to find many more with you guys, thanks. :) I also set up a small amount to go to you as a donation, Its not gonna amount to a ton but hopefully it is helpful.

Welcome to the pool paaco! Our pool size has been growing in size quite a bit since the 4th of December, there is a good community around this coin and we are just glad to be part of it. The donation always helps. I plan on only keeping enough of the profits to pay for the pool, the rest gets returned to the community by means of giveaways and improvements to the site. Every donation helps no matter how big or small!

Hi!
Just started mining in your pool about two hours ago.
There are few goldcoin pools, so hope your one will grow uo strong and efficient.

Just a silly question:
i started mining, as i said, a couple of hours ago, and i can read in the stats i got 1800 valid shares.
Why i can't still see anything in the "unconfirmed" box ?
I know the blocks have to be validated for me to get the "confirmed" status, but how long does it normally take to see the "unconfirmed" amount ?

Thanks!

Unconfirmed will appear once a block has been found, this sometimes takes a while but we are averaging about 1 block every hour or two. This will generate 45 coins and they will be distributed to all miners who participated and the amount will depend on what percentage of shares they submitted.

Hope this helps and we are glad to have you!

--Edit: Just checked and it looks like you have been included in the last block that was found, you should be showing an unconfirmed balance right now.

Thanks for the answer and the explanation.
Everything fine, i noticed right after a couple of hours coins started to appear in the unconfirmed box, and later in the confirmed one.
Wish the best to the pool, and hope i can contribute a bit.

Im not sure what is causing you to have a hard time staying connected. I have been connected on 2 different computers for a week straight now with very few disconnections. Definitely one of the more stable pools, at least for me.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been travelling the past couple days. This is very strange, I have not seen this happen on the pool before and all of my connections have been stable. Have you mined any other pools? It can be caused by problems within your connection as well. The server is on a one gigabit backbone with uptime monitoring for both the website and stratum, you can view this under the statistics section, the service is provided by uptimerobot. While doubtful that the server is having connectivity problems I am willing to look further, please let me know if you continue to have the problem.

FYI your pool is not confirming any of our coins.  I have already sent a support email about this several hours ago but have not received any confirmation that you received it.  We are pulling our miners from your pool for the time being, and will not return until you have responded.  No response and no coins means we black list your pool and will alert the crypto community.

We've seen this same issue happen on other pools.  We have faith that you will resolve this matter soon.

Looks like its starting to confirm just doing it very very very slowly.  Is this something about Goldcoin in general?  I haven't research this coin too much.  Or this is pool preference to draw out confirms?

Well since the pooloperator is not responding I can tell you what is happening.

This is due to the 51% protection that GoldCoin has. Right now when the pool reaches about 50% of the total network hash rate there is a delay in processing the block. Mining does not stop and shares are still processed normally, new blocks are sometimes found during this time. The completed percent will continue to rise and processing of account balances stop until I manually correct it. All blocks found since the error are credited, unfortunately there are times where I am unable to see if this is occuring so the completed amount may get rather high. Once I run a manual process everything is resolved and the pool goes back to normal. Nothing to worry about, I monitor it as often as I can.

Regards

You are correct did some digging after my last post and this is just they way it is with Goldcoin.

I give this pool a A+ so far.   Sorry Cloud mines if my original post got a bit testy...my inner troll was escaping.

My apologies for not getting back earlier. Our server was hacked recently and all funds are gone. I will post a announcement ina few days detailing what we will be doing and the future of the pool.
