Well someone asked me for this so here it is... sorry I don't show much, I don't want our competitors stealing ideas. 8)

Cool, looking forward to seeing it in action. Does having it run in java mean that it would be easier to integrate into web and phone apps?
-
Well I will tell after my expertise that Java can be run at anything =)
So to answer your question, Yes.
-
On that note are we the first to use Java for a wallet? Whatever the wallet currently uses from best of my knowledge I can tell all the other wallets use similar design/code/programming. Only one that I can tell that recently changes and perhaps its only facial change is WorldCoin, they wallet was redesigned rather recently and looks completely different than that usual but its kinda rough feeling now. Anyways thanks Akumaburn!

I think we might be the first mineable cryptocurrency based on a multi-platform Java client.
-
There are other multi-platform Java wallets out there. MultiBit is for bitcoin (https://multibit.org/). This application uses the Bitcoin Java Library (bitcoinj). The GoldCoin android wallet is based on bitcoinj as well. The meme coin (Dogecoin) has a multiplatform java wallet also (MultiDoge) which is based on MultiBit. MultiBit and its forks as well as the Android wallets are all lightweight wallets. They do not store the entire blockchain on the computer. You cannot run any service with these wallets (no block explorers) since they only store the most recent part of the blockchain. Though the wallet files do contain transactions relating to the addresses contained in the wallet. You would not be able to import a paper wallet private key either (unless the software is written to query the entire blockchain from another node to find all the related transactions - this is a feature that the current GoldCoin Android Wallet does not have).
However, the new GoldCoin client will certainly be unique because it will have [MODERATOR EDIT].

I received confirmation yesterday that the new client is almost ready for testing! (:D)

The new client is almost complete and should be ready for testing sometime in June.

Can you or aka fix a timeline ?
Everybody is impatient... but some date can make that ppl begin to speculate and buy GLD !
This with the USD incoming on Cryptsy can be very nice for GLD !

Originally, we were shooting for a May 21 release date. However, Akumaburn had to develop a proprietary storage system from scratch so the coin would have on-the-fly-compression and a few other things, so that's slowed him down a bit.
The best estimate at this time would be sometime in June. As this window begins to narrow, he or I will provide additional status updates.

21 May or June ? 21 May is tomorrow !

As of this writing, again, the best estimate is a June release.

OK Thanks and I hope the best for GLD !

cant wait, this will be really cool. 8)

8 days left until the end of June. Any problems with the new client or can we still expect it released to testing before July 1st?

No problems.. progress is slow but steady.
I've had some IRL troubles of late and that has pushed me back quite a bit.
I'm addressing multiple fundamental problems with Bitcoin, with the primary ones being storage/download speed and verification speed(If you've noticed of late, the bitcoin blockchain is huge and takes a very long time to download/verify). I've solved all these problems in the new GLD client. However the implementations themselves are taking a long time. They are taking a long time because I'm adamant on doing this properly.
When the initial estimate of the client release being in May was given(an estimation that was first released by Greg but not confirmed by me until afterwards), I was living in a different home. In between April and May I had to move homes and that took a lot of time and there are still a lot of things to take care of IRL.
I will do what I can to speed things up.. however as towards when the client will be ready for beta testing. I do not know for certain. It could be 5 days from now, it could be a month from now. Too many variables to count.
Here is an updated teaser.. deduce what you will 8)

All good things take time! I for one think it is great that you are putting so much time into this project and not just wanting to make any wallet but a quality wallet. Thanks.
-
Great! Thanks for the status update. I hope all is well on the home front. Take care of yourself and your loved ones friend. We only have one life.
We all really want a solid, long-term coin that's still around in 5-10 years. That's the most important strategic goal imo.

Nice looking forward to seeing it in action and certainly a lot of work.
Thanks akumaburn

:) I am very excited about this.
Is the new Multi-Wallet still set for an August release.
I am currently investing more into GoldCoin as I truly believe this coin is going to take off very soon !!!
