Title: Goldcoin Game
Post by: golden_glitcher on June 06, 2013, 08:55:37 PM: So I've been working away at a goldcoin game the last few weeks, its going slow cos i can only go at it in my free time but i'd take a guess and say Im around 15% done. I've just finished animating one of our enemy ships. If you've been part of the goldcoin team for a long while you might get a kick outa this when you see who the enemy is.....

My idea was to use the most hated cryptocurrency as the boss or the most hated crypto figure in the scene (like karpeles or wolong). Any suggestions ill def keep in mind. Also microguy will be piloting the ship (we have awesome developers but microguy is the guy most people associate with goldcoin) and im playing around with an idea of having the dogecoin shibe as a special weapon that can be called in for support if needed (If the game gets shared with the doge community it might get some of their marketing guys to spill over to goldcoin, who knows) And there's going to be goldcoin power-ups to collect to improve the ships weapons. But all these ideas could change too haha.

Wasn't able to crop it smaller cos the gif wouldn't play so there's a lot of space in this msg. Might not look fantastic against this pale blue background but against a black starry background it looks pretty sweet. Working on Quarkcoin too.

lol happy accident. Didn't know the original pic I was drawing the sprite from was from the star wars universe. Love my sci fi but star wars never stuck with me. Think all the merchandise put me off a bit. I expect to catch up with all the movies at some point tho.
Now that I know.... from here on that enemy will be known as the Quark Federation. (soz if im butchering a beloved franchise!)

Thanks man! Just be warned its my first attempt at this so who knows how its gona turn out. Im optimistic its not going to be terrible but i cant tell yet cos im not even at the halfway mark. Time is a killer.

Im not sure if this game will be complete by the time the new client launches, in all honesty it'll probably come afterwards.I was hoping it would so as to add to the new client hype. Also Im gona try find some time to do some promotional art for the new client if at all possible.

Been trying to fix problems with background collision detection this last week. Was causing the game to jerk around. After putting in some serious time managed to figure it out. A hurdle I'm glad to be over. I cant imagine the pressure Akumaburn is under right now with the client. All I can say is he deserves a medal for his work and ambition.

Not fully implemented yet but so far I have the animation down.
Basically when things get too much for microguy he can call in a doge attack that will clear the screen for him.
You will get to use the doge attack only 3 times in the game and there will be a graphic on the bottom of the screen telling you how many you have left.

*disclaimer I don't own any dogecoin. haha. (not the most loved crypto at the mo but didn't see the community split coming)

Have the doge attack implemented and about 60%-70% of in game dialogue popping up when its suppose to.
Be prepared for lots of one liners from microguy.

You get to a certain part of the game and controls just start to slow up. I've undone the last few things I've put in to see what was causing it and it doesn't make a difference. Beginning to think its the actual length of it that's making it crunch. I have another idea for a fix that I haven't tried yet cos I need to mull it over to figure out a way to implement it.

Should have enough cash together in a couple weeks for a replacement.Luckily i had most of the game backed up on my external harddrive (bar last sundays work) so wont have to go redrawing sprites or anything. Progress is slow cos im working extremely long hours min wage to satisfy the needs of our greedy overlords the bankster mafia. Im not gona lie to you, i get half a sunday each week to work on it so it might not be ready for a while yet. But know that i am still on it and really really want it done before xmas.

This was the boss battle i was working on. The picture was originally taken from my phone which is why the contrast is out.
So heres the bad news,the game is gone. I got a replacement laptop but my external harddrive got corrupted.My
cousin playing with powerful levitation magnets at the time is my only conclusion. I had years of memories on that
harddrive which are also gone. I feel [beep] and sick and know i've let ye down,aswel as myself.I feel like

And I can only imaging how much harder it is for the loss of the years of memories. You may try asking around at computer shops to see if anyone would be able to retrieve any of it for you. I know they can do some fantastic things now a days.

The game was close to completion before it got wiped, and that took me 6 months of working on it almost every day of the week. These days I get less than a day a week leisure time, so I wish I could start it again but I have to be realistic, no point in promising something which on my current work schedule would end up taking years to complete. Il have you know this bugs the hell out of me, I really wish I could get cracking on it again.
I was using 'Construct2' to build the game if anyone else is looking to step up. Its very user friendly software. If you have any bit of passion you'll manage it just fine.
I think bounty is a good incentive for this too.
