Title: What are the most important features for a successful digital currency?
Post by: tadspoles on June 20, 2014, 10:27:31 PM
I was just reading an article about a lot of private money starting to come into cryptocurrencies for various reason.  I'm wondering what everyone thinks the most important features/aspects of a digital currency's long term success are.

I think it's an active development team with multiple branches and people wanting to contribute code and thought with some type of leadership structure--much like the way the linux kernel is maintained.

What do you folks think?

not only active dev but for long term i think continuously update of feature,  8)
the problem is that many new coin release feature updates all at once at the same time. This is good, but it will make the miners and traders also get bored quickly, because that's a lot of coins that died because of the presence of the new coins, coin dev should create innovation every month so as not to lose the interest of the miners and traders.

I agree with you coinspumper.  That's another reason a digital currency needs a growing developer community.  It likely would be very hard for one guy to tackle everything the community demands to stay competitive.  As the development team grows though, I imagine it would be difficult to steer everyone and herd the cats.

For any coin to have continued success though, that's pretty much what has to happen.  GoldCoin moving to Java is a very good idea since there are likely many more Java vs. C++ developers.
