I've been playing around with CGminer. It's showing 51.23Mh/s and it's showing I found 3 Blocks. I don't know if I did something wrong or what.
So I thought I'd ask, I assume it's working because of the MH/s and showing I found Blocks. But nothing is showing up on CryptoCoinMine (I have no stats at all on the site). It's like I'm not even mining any idea if it's something I'm doing or is it the site?
Thanks
Note: Is it showing the Pool Stats, Not my Stats? I told you all I'm new at this lol....
-
My Stats did show up, but it took a long time. But it's showing I'm only getting 4 KH/s. So now I have a question :o How many KHash in a MHash or how ever it works. I've searched and can't find anything.
-
i got a nvidia gpu and with cgminer it says i have 20 mh/s but its wrong its also says found a block for pool...then rejects it. the pool would also say 4kh/s i use cuda miner now and it says like 7 kh/s and it accepts shares now but never find a block. i dont think your configured right
-
To be honest I didn't even put a video card in the PC. I just installed cgMiner and played with it and it stared working. I also switched to VirCurPool and it works. So now I have cgMiner and ScryptMiner running and my Khash/s are higher on the site. Iwas testing a couple of other Pools and I just went back to VirCur Kh/s are at 16 now but they'll go to 50 or so. Better than the 30 Kh/s I was getting with my CPUs.
-
If you use cgminer you must have the --scrypt parameter for cgminer to use the correct hashing function. I have never seen SHA-256 running a scrypt coin pool find blocks, but they would not be valid. 1000 KH/s = 1 MH/s.
-
yea so 51,000 kh/s unlikly you didnt put a video card in ??what do you have block eruptors? if your getting vailid shares and blocks, so be it. but something dont sound right.lol
vircurpools timing is off.
something
-
Well it's got me I stopped mining and went out for awhile. But I just started it back up. As you can see it's running about 50 Mh/s But my Kh/s on VirCur are only showing at 4 KH/s and there not going up lol I started mining a about 10 mins ago.
Well I'm a n00b whats block eruptors? :o I only have a stock PC with Win 8, I never added anything other than scripts and wallets.

LOL Well I know it's not working right. Because I found 2.8K Shares ::) I also switched to Get Work I was using Strartum. As you can also see I'm getting Rejected. But the Kh/s are up to 24 right now and going up it was at 12 about 4 mins ago. Guess I just need the correct setting for it to work. Anyone have any ideas what the settings should be in the conf file?
-
Your .conf file for cgminer needs this:
"scrypt" : true
While your best share was a 2.8K difficulty, the number of accepted shares by the pool is zero (0). The number of accepted shares is after the "A:" Next to the "A:" is the "R:" which is the number of rejected shares.
Block Errupters are for mining bitcoins: http://www.btcguild.com/index.php?page=store. They are rather high in price at 0.60 BTC, it will take 6 months to a year to make your money back, if you are lucky.
-
I don't have any Block Erupters, that's for sure.
I added the "scrypt" : true now I keep getting an error message "Error in config file, partially loaded" I take it I'm missing a file or something, because the script didn't fully load with the scrypt : true

The JSON format is very picky about having exact syntax. Every comma,colon and quote has to be exactly right or cgminer miner cannot use it.
Here is an example from one of my rigs:
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "http://gld.cryptocoinmine.com:3333",
"user" : "xxxxxx",
"pass" : "xxxxxx"
}
]
,
"intensity" : "15",
"vectors" : "2",
"worksize" : "256",
"kernel" : "scrypt",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "0",

"scan-time" : "60",
"scrypt" : true,
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"
}
true and false in this JSON format is different in that it does use quotes when used as a parameter. Make sure the comma is after the true parameter and that there is no comma after the last parameter.

I also noticed that in the screen shots Cgminer is showing GPU speeds in MH/s. This means it is hashing in SHA-256 mode. CGminer will think it is creating valid hashes, because it is if the coin is sha-256, until it submits them to the pool. The pool then rejects them as they are not valid hashes for a scrypt coin like Goldcoin.
You will know CGminer is hashing in scrypt mode when your GPU speed measurements are in KH/s.

hhhhmmmm ,so sounds like i kinda know what im talking about. thanks for the clarifications dream.. and stouse..

cryptocoinmines down or at least not taking any new clients at this time. please wait in the waiting room with the others. lol
hey paint just noticed if your trying to mine with a gpu..... your clock and mem engine settings say 0 (zero) 0-0. to set it up use gpu caps veiwer to see your settings and make your engine clock 25 more than it says and set mem to about a third or half.
try that.
if im wrong guys help a brother miner out.

I'm viewing my GPU Caps. Don't know what I'm looking at kind of. But this is what I get.

I just registered a test account without any issues. You do need to put in a valid e-mail address and follow the link in the registration e-mail to unlock and use the account.
If yo still have problems, just PM me the account name you tried to register under and i will unlock it by hand.
Ipaint,
I do not know what miner/screen you are getting those numbers from. What mining software are you trying to use?
-
Dream, I got the info from Geek3D GPU Caps Viewer and I'm trying to get CGMiner working.
-
thats the same caps veiwer i got
now use max clock number and add 25 to it so its 785 in yor conf file and mem 1/3 is 266. 6 in ur conf file

This is what I have in my conf file. Every time I add "kernel" : "scrypt", and or "scrypt" : true, I get errors or it crashes.

All the code is there, I missed it or something when I copied and posted it.
-
It may be crashing or erroring out because it's starting to work but the other values are incorrect for your card.
-
change your kernel to- poclbm
vectors=0
intensity=0
if it works increase intensity (-20 through 20 is the scale )
change vectors to 1
-
also in your engine you have to put the max you have plus the 25 added to it so it looks like this 760-785 also to have them switch around lol :P the numbers for engine and mem need switched memclock is 266.6 not engine lol hope this helps
edit: i noticed up a few post i said max clock i meant engine sorry bout that
-
lookup gap=0
thread concurrency=0
worksize=512
-
now if this works watch it for 5 mins notice ur speed. slowly increase your memclock by 10 or so(restarting each time you change your conf) til u see it going down in speed then back it down where you get the most out of it. you caps veiwer to watch those temps video cards can run into the 125 degrees mines a steady 111 degrees mining
-
i didnt us the "name" : "CryptoCoinMine (gld.cryptocoinmine.com)", line.
-
You must use the "scrypt" kernel or no shares will accepted by the pool.
diablo, polcbm, phatk are all SHA_256 hash kernels.
A couple of things to try:
First delete all the files that end in .bin in your cgminer directory. These are the compiled version of the CL files that CGminer creates on the fly depending on the hardware it sees.
Second: there a couple of enviromental variables that need to be set for Cgminer to work correctly. I use a small script to start Cgminer.
cg.sh -->
#! /bin/bash
export DISPLAY=:0
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=50
./cgminer
Make sure to set cg.sh to executable.
chmod+x cg.sh
start Cgminer with the cg.sh script
Some people use 40 or even 100 value on the 'alloc_percent' line. Experiment to see what works best for you.

Thanks for the help everyone, but I more or less gave up for now. I gotta paint a few paintings, so I'll get back to it. But I did get 600 Kh/s but it wouldn't get any shares or connect to the pool. I'll keep playing with the settings and see what happens.
-
It was bugging me so I did some painting and started checking this out again :)
I was reviewing the files and there is only scrypt130511.cl for Scrypt is there any other scrypt files I can try or is that it? Because when ever I use scrypt in the .conf I get errors.
dreamwatcher I have no idea how to do what you posted. I am only setting up the .conf file then I just click on cgminer.exe to make it run. Anything past that I have no idea how to do it.
Added:
With these settings I am getting about +- 625 Kh/s But it's not connecting to the pool and no shares. I assume it's because I can't use scrypt without errors.

paint-
ok according to your cap viewer post you have a 512 mb card. which would make your work size 512 i know that much but that wont get you up and running..
i gave up on it when i realized theres a cuda miner for my nvidia card that works more efficient than cgminer. i suppose anyhow. older nvidia cards suck anyway. and i dont want to stop mining to try it again lol
i was totally lost also with all the technological stuff that dream had posted, but makes me hungry to find out.
come on dream.. in walk us through it some.
i would like to try cgminer for my cpu instead of my wallet but cant get it to work either.i ive pretty much got the same problem and im to small time to know exactly what im talking about so im lost there. but it HAS TO run in scrypt or wont work. i know too know, that much!
-
If you need a good CPU miner use ScryptMiner GUI, I use it in place of running the wallet all the time.
Here's a link for it. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=62414.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=62414.0)
I use 8 Threads and my Scantime is 99 . I get +- 30 Kh/s with these setting. My CPU has 10 cores so I set it on 8 the highest setting it has. It leave 2 cores for other stuff on the PC. I don't do much on it, so I just let it run most of the time almost 24/7. I also found out, if I mine a different coin. I can sell it and buy more GLD than I can mine at the 30 Kh/s ;) ... Well most of the time, depends on the price and with GLD being around .001 I might be about even.
-
hey thanks alot bill. you know its funny you said that cuz it just stuck me earier. mine other "junk" coins and trade for gold (well not junk exactly,but im for goldcoin so its kinda junk to me)lol ;D any idea on a good valued junk coin lol (there i go again..) thats easily mined so i can have my laptops mine it slowly but surly?? paint i think your on to somthing here 8)
i got a cheap $85 AMD phenom II x4 965 black edition (4 core) so i think you got me beat
-
I just downloaded the updated cgMiner. I added "kernel" : "scrypt", and it kind of worked lol .. It didn't crash anyway.
So using the "kernel" : "scrypt", I get the error
"LOOKUP_GAP" is undefined
const unit ySIZE = <1024/LOOKUP_GAP+<1024%LOOKUP_GAP>0>>;
I have "lookup-gap" : "2", in the conf file. I also tried 1 and "0" and I still get the same error. Any ideas what I should do?
-
ok sorry bout this i was reading the scrypt readme file that came with cgminer 3.3.1 windows32 and it was saying NOT to underclock your memory and we did exactly that.. so.. lol use your caps veiwer and find your max clock: mem speed . for starters. read that readme file that came with the cgminer download it says something about lookup gap and thread concurrency.
-
I've been reading the README file. I've been playing with different settings and I still get the same error message. I don't know what the error means 1024/LOOKUPGAP etc.
-
A few more pointers:
Do not be concerned about GPU/Memory speeds at this point. Just leave those clock settings at "0" (Card default) until you get CGminer running smooth.
Intensity should be set at around 13 (for scrypt coins like Goldcoin, SHA 256 coins normally get set at around 5) to start, again this can be tweaked later. Using a negative number slows the miner down. If you are mining on a computer that you also use for other things, set intensity to "d". Cgminer will adjust the intensity dynamically to allow other applications fair share at resources.
Lookup-gap set at 2 is normal.
Worksize should only be either 64,128 or 256. It has NOTHING to do with the amount of memory your GPU has. This setting is more about the GPU chip and memory interface (not size). Some GPU work better with information in less but larger chunks of information while others work better with more smaller chunks of information.
Do not worry about thread-concurrency at this point. Set it at zero, we are going to have CGmine calculate the concurrency by setting shaders.
Shaders need to be set at how many shaders your GPU has. One needs to find this information.
For the scrypt readme in Cgminer:

A good place to see how others have set up their hardware:
http://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison
Mining any scrypt coin is the same (with a couple of exceptions), so these examples apply to Goldcoin as well.
-
I'm about ready to give up ... Now there's something wrong with the CONCURRENT_THREADS size
I also added the cg.sh file
-
After doing a bit of research on mining with the 7560D, I found some parameters that work for one person, but many others cannot get that model of GPU to mine correctly.
I have made up a cgminer.conf file for you, just change user and password field to match yours:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "stratum+tcp://gld.cryptocoinmine.com:2020",
"user" : "username",
"pass" : "password"
}
]
,
"intensity" : "13",
"vectors" : "2",
"worksize" : "256",
"kernel" : "scrypt",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "1024",
"shaders" : "0",
"gpu-engine" : "0",
"gpu-fan" : "0-85",
"gpu-memclock" : "0",
"gpu-memdiff" : "0",
"gpu-powertune" : "0",
"gpu-vddc" : "0.000",
"temp-cutoff" : "95",
"temp-overheat" : "85",
"temp-target" : "75",
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"gpu-dyninterval" : "7",
"gpu-platform" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"hotplug" : "5",
"log" : "5",
"no-pool-disable" : true,
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "60",
"scrypt" : true,
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"
}
Now, I set the concurrency at 1024 to start (256 shaders * 4). The GENERAL rule of thumb is AMD 5000 series use shaders * 5, AMD series 6000 and up use shaders * 4. Since in the configuration we are using concurrency there is no need to set shaders. Shaders is only used by Cgminer to try and guess the concurrency when none is given.
In the article I found the person was using concurrency at 2048. However he was using the Litecoin daemon mining interface with mining software that was not Cgminer. I have never heard of anybody using shaders * 8 with Cgminer.
Also remember that the JSON format of the conf file has to be exact, CgMiner(and JSON in general) is extremely strict about its formatting rules. Just cut and paste exactly what I have posted with the exception of username and password.
If this does not work, do not worry, the 7560 is not a stellar performer anyhow, and you will probably spend more on electricity then you would make with mined coins. I do understand your desire to support Goldcoin and hope it does work for you.
Otherwise, I would suggest picking a good used 5800 or 6900 series GPU.I have seen some 5850 go as cheap as $50.00 on ebay. My rig#3 consists of two 5850 and with almost no tweaking at all (Have not had the time) I am getting around 300 KH/s on each.
-
That-a-boy dream,good man ;D
so what do you think about those ASIC block erupters? are they only for bitcoin or SHA coins?? wouldnt they be a better investment for the speed and electricity usage??? or are they disposable compared to a gpu at over $200????
thank you
*Hope this works for ya paint
-
Thanks dream, But of course with my luck it didn't work :( For some strange reason I just can't get it to run when I add scrypt.
I did mine PPcoin just to see if it was working and it did. But not wroth mining at 56 Mh/s. I noticed all of the SHA coins have a high Diff. or I'd mine one of them for BTC.
Thanks for your help everyone, but this plan is D.O.A. :)
-
Just so you all know I did get this working. Only problem is. It starts off at about 160 Kh/s then very slowly it drops down to about 20 Kh/s or less. No idea why but it works just not worth mining with seeing it has less Kh/s than my CPUs.
-
Hey All.
New to GoldCoin. But I have been mining LTC for a while. I have worked out the best setting for CGMiner with 7950's. So I am going to post the .conf file. So with these setting I am getting 690KH/s. Hope this helps the network to perform better.
