Hi,
And thank you for visiting the new Goldcoin Forum. In this thread, I am seeking ideas and suggestions for improving the forum or comments related to Goldcoin in general. To help get those creative juices flowing I will send 100 GLD to the first 20 users who post their ideas along with their receiving addresses. To earn the 100 GLD you must make an attempt at a useful comment not just a simple posting of your receiving address.
I'm very excited about the prospects of this coin and appreciate your participation.
Sincerely,
Greg Matthews

I had my doubts at times, but I really think gold coin is going places. There were some questionable things with the release, and with certain members of the community, but many of things have been explained away and/or resolved in some way.
I think gold will be very profitable to mine very soon!

Those are my sentiments as well.
I see great possibles in the future of this coin as long as the key players remains above board, motivated, and focused. Thanks again for joining the community and your coins are on their way!

The client keeps renewing the blockchain from scratch. I reinstalled it and removed all data from the Appdata Roaming GLDcoln folder (after backing up the wallet). Plz make it like other couns where you only see the latest blocks updated. It might scare newbies away otherwise.

Welcome to the forum. This problem will be corrected once the next block is mined. Thank you for your comments and enjoy your 100 GLD!

I'm not sure whether or not you know me, however, I have been involved in this project from the early hours and have been working hard to get it off the ground since then. I dislike the client resyncing problems but I know that will be fixed soon. Um, I would love to see more faucets, like 20+, I'm currently sponsoring one faucet, and depending on how that goes, I'd probably sponsor more. Plus, one thing that I think can get this coin ahead is an iphone & android app that allows you to download the wallet, and then send payments wherever you are from your mobile device. Also if you had the ability to message addresses that would be neat in your wallet:).
-
Thank you for joining the forum.
I appreciate you taking the time to make this post and to introduce yourself. If there is anything I can do in helping you advance this project, please let me know. Maybe I could sponsor a faucet. I like your ideas about creating an app for the iphone & android. I received an email just the other day from a developer offering to lend his services in this area.
Welcome to the website and your coins have been sent. :)

Well a couple of observations.
First off the coin was listed prematurely on Cryptsy and then for some reason Bigvern put it on what equates to the pink sheets of crypto coins. This is really unfortunate because its going to be an uphill climb to get it back on main page. The coin has a great name and has a lot of potential. Because Cryptsy put gold to trade against LTC, people dealing in btc must first pay the fee to trade it in ltc, and then again pay fees again to get it back to BTC. not cool bigvern.
Now, if this coin is to have a future, there needs to be some groundwork done to get some real world acceptance. (name helps a lot)
Everything needs to be above the board. No skullduggery whatsoever. Bad PR when there are 30+ other coins out there is a death knell.
- We need to have some stores which accept goldcoin, bitcoins and litecoins. Ride on the shirt tails of them (maybe a couple others) Im not talking about stores selling effin candy bars either. Thats just retarded. Setting fees to 0% on transaction for goldcoin will help promote them further.

- An ebay type of place that follows the same rules as above.
- Trade coins for prepaid visa card site?
- Create a payment gateway that can use an app on a smartphone to post QR code to merchants for immediate purchase of chewing gum at the local 7-11.
any and all these ideas are multi million dollar goldmines in themselves.
Getting back to exchanges, once we get some of these things operational, it would be a good idea to dump the 30BTC to btc-e, and get it listed there. Perhaps at that point Cryptsy will move gold off the pink sheet trade status. does anyone use vircurex anymore? dont know but that is another option. Point is, exchanges are cool but it makes a coin more of a speculative venture for day traders and miners to dump recklessly on the market.
Yea the miners. those guys. like diarrhea of the wallet. See no value in any of the coins, they dump them as fast as they can mine them. A trade bot could do nothing more but hold the market prices stable from manipulation. Although that could become costly if a huge dump occurred at .1BTC but could also help remove masses of coins from the market that create instabilities.
Anyway. Just some thoughts IMHO

I would appreciate an online open-source client-side wallet for gld like blockchain.info for btc so I can send gld from anywhere. Mobile app would be the second level of this idea.
The second idea, because there can be many transactions over time (btc blockchain is quite huge now), there would be a per-address balance report every 10,000 blocks or so (will be considered confirmed when at least 1000 blocks old), which would save downloading the whole blockchain for lite clients. Only funded addresses along with their unspent inputs would be there, and the lite-client blockchain would have that as its starting point instead of the genesis block.

Great ideas and suggestions! Welcome aboard guys and thank your joining the forum. ;D

Hi guys,
A great idea would be greating a website where GLD would be selling silver coins & in a later stage gold coins for GLDCoins.

Microguy you need to contact Bitcoinboard from another GLD Forum and join forces with him. He is interested in working with you see link of forum.

I'd like to see a store/auction type site. But until someone builds one and puts it online. You could add a market place that allows members to sell products, services. By that I mean goods that need to be shipped etc. I know a lot of people will offer programing, web design etc. but there is the odd ball person like me that is thinking about selling paintings for GLD, BTC or LTC.
I think it would need rules limiting which members could sell goods, Have so many post or something that shows they are an active member on the site and they can be trusted.

Hey everyone,
I've moved over here from gldcointalk and want to find a permanent community home for this coin. MicroGuy you look like you mean business and that's what GLD needs.
I'm thinking that bitshire's android wallet is a great idea and I also believe a paper wallet is in order. Along with a decent website. Which I'm kinda working on.
-
Hi Sting17,
Yes, I do intend on giving this coin my 100% undivided attention along with my blood, sweat, and possibly a few tears. Hopefully tears of joy! :)
Thank you for joining the forum! I can tell that you mean business too, and you know that they say, "birds of a feather flock together". Your coins are in the pipe. Let's make this coin the very best it can be. Things are looking up!
Cheers,
Greg.

Thanks mate, i'm 100% behind this coin and am happy to help however i can. Need to get a shout box installed on this forum mate.

Hello, I've just switched over from the other forums aswell.
We need someone to host(I have a demo site done if needed)/make a official GLD website. I guess we could reward members 20GLD per signup on this forum (make a thread in bitcointalk).
Mostly It's just waiting for hard fork, then we'll have a good future ahead of us.
:)

I fart around on the net
quite a bit, making static websites and using other peoples
programs.
1- I could put a faucet at my site, but I would need the instructions
for how to do that.
2- Same thing goes for a market, where I accept gldcoins at my site;
once again I would need to find instructions somewhere about how
to do that.
I see that you take the time to respond to people on this particular
thread, and that is really good pr work on your part.
Your work is good for GLDcoin
Its interesting to see gldcoin break up into several different forums
as has occurred.
Time will tell I suppose, which of the forums will become
the main forum now.
On the one hand, having several different forums increases exposure
for gldcoin, but on the other hand it may be confusing to new comers.
I put a forum on my site as well, but not to compete at all, but
simply for the fun of it, when I read about people setting up
other forums, I just went ahead and did it too. As another outlet,
if its needed for gldcoin. :)

Just use a decent domain, i don't want
www.111.2.3.4 random, try .com/net/org is possible with a decent name.

I really begin to like this forum.
-
Thanks to everyone who has joined the forum!
I'm currently finishing up another project and will begin dedicating myself full-time to this forum next week. I looked over this thread again and think I paid everyone the 100 GLD bonus. If you didn't receive your coins please let me know.
-
I don't think I got the 100 GLD yet
Oh, I see why, it is because the last received block was generated 8 hours ago, and so I have not received what you sent yet.

Might be just my wallet isn't synching right or something. havent had this problem before. I tested it just a couple days ago and had someone send me 5, and I sent them 5 back and it worked fine then. I keep getting that litecoin block trying to download and I x it out, and restart it. Its always worked in the past, so I'll just wait a bit, and see if the 100 GLD comes in, and I'll let you know.
Oh, I see why, it is because the last received block was generated 8 hours ago, and so I have not received what you sent yet. Don't know why it is having so much troubles receiving the blocks this time.
Thanks

cryptocoinexplorer says the address I have as my signature at gldtalk.org
'ADDRESS NOT SEEN ON NETWORK'
http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/address/EEyjmHGUxPoe1zWhnkGh183JoHxjLDYcCH
I created a specific address just for this forum, the one that I was going to be sent the 100 gld, but according to cryptocoinexplorer.com this address is not seen on the network, so no one has sent me any gld at all via this address
-
hi microguy. I don't know why the 100 gld is not being received and cryptocoinexplorer.com doesn't have any record of it.
but if you want to try and humor me, i want to check to see if there is some kind of problem with me receiving only from you. I would like to send you 6 gld, and please send me 5 gld back, and you can keep 1 gld for helping me.
you can send the 5 gld to my address I have in my signature again, or we can try a different address maybe?
but I will need to get a gld address off of you, to send you 6 gld to test it out.
Thank you

It isn't showing at all on my wallet, whereas when aziz sent me 5, it showed right away. All the other times it was like that. and it would just say that there is 0 confirmations, whereas this time, it is not there at all.
Sorry, but I am taking my post off of my blog. blew it man.

You know whats needed a How-To section. I see you are going to have videos but I think if you have a section on the forum. Telling people what to do and allow them to ask questions it would help a lot. I find myself most people know all the tech terms etc. and it leaves people like me saying, What? I have no clue what your saying. lol I have some what of a clue but I think you know what I mean. So we need a How-To for Dummies (the non tech person) because most people if you can get them to use it are not going to mine, they'll just want to know how to get GLD and how can they spend it.
What we are want people that are going to use GLD not just miners, we want the average person to stop by read the information and ask if they can buy some GLD. Even explain how they can hold it for an investment because the value can go up or down just like stocks. You want people my age to get into GLD us older folks have nothing better to do than surf the net and read :)
The thing they will ask is, Why buy GLD when your asking for money for it in the first place. That's were the investment part comes in, you can buy it spend some and keep the rest as an investment.
-
Make a shoutbox, wanna chat with these people.
Go go :)
-
Hi, I would like to see this succeed aswell.. as blade* said earlier , use and acceptance will help it grow..how could it not? mining interest is also a huge part as the btc scene is so shaky with everyone awaiting the asics flood . I swear this all has so many matrix similarities its eerie lol
Anyway I just installed the client and am going to attempt mining in a bit .. I am building an alternate currency auction house that will accept nothing but coin. any assistance you can give I will put GLD as a payment option with BTC and LTC. I hope to have the site finished soon , its basically functional right now. alterbid.com
