We're very pleased to announce that the Goldcoin (GLD) Android App is now available for download on the Google Play Store. This makes downloading the app and sharing Goldcoins with friends and family a breeze!

A special thanks goes out to the developer Stouse49 for all his work coding and publishing the Android wallet. This achievement would not have been possible without his dedicated efforts.

Had no problems with update over the top of the beta. Google didn't recognize it as the same application until this morning, and then prompted for the available update. Guess it took someone to download it once for that to kick in. All beta tags replaced, etc. Clean upgrade.
FWIW: New Google Play Store ratings require +1 account in case anyone hasn't set one up or have an un-linked Google profile device.

I hope someone can help here. I have coins on my Android wallet, but the wallet says "synchronization stalled, 24 hours behind". Any clues on how to fix this?

There is currently an Android fix in the works which will be released tomorrow.

Can't wait for the update, Will write up a review after that since I'm also having difficulties syncing up. Also waiting for the exchanges section to come up :)

The app looks great. It seems the fix is taking a bit longer. Have some patience. ;)

That would be awesome!
Sorry about the delay in the update. There were some unexpected difficulties updating the app after the 51% defense roll out. In the future we have decided to better test the client (and determine what impact it will have on the Android app) before rolling it out.
Hopefully, we can have the app update ready in the next few days.

The app is based off an older version of Bitcoin Wallet, which didn't have a way to password protect spending (using a PIN code). The current version of Bitcoin Wallet does have this feature. If time permits, I will update the app to the latest version.

Having only had a chance to test the Windows client, had to power on a cheap $10 Dollar Store phone & get to testing. Also having the plan for many months to get a build with the x86 port of Android, thus creating the ability to store them on a PC & not risking a failed android update.
"These are not POS, you don't have to keep the wallet.dat (storing coins) online to help the network & knowledge of hot / cold .dat / .wallet files is key. Keeping the user safe from loss should be the #1 priority, but that task is tough for even ones with many years of knowledge."
//The download & full sync of the GoldCoin app on Google Play, given a average wireless service provider, was less than an hour (as was the Windows test) :-X
~Test as much as one can, you will find the ones that are really scalable & ones that are a run away train (train is still workable, but hyper-rail is the future) ;)
