Hello all
I've only recently discovered Goldcoin, so I apologise for being late to the party :)
I was looking to join one of the pools yet i see they are all in maintence mode at the moment, waiting for updates and investigating things I presume. So I thought, I'd give solo mining a shot just for fun. Last night I set-up CGminer and off it went, found 2 blocks in about 15 mins (yay I thought) but i noticed I was getting a few rejects, so I closed miner and messed around with the EXPIRY and SCANTIME settings. Now I'm getting nothing but Rejected blocks..... and wishing I had just left well alone lol
Ive never mined solo so I dont know if getting 100% rejects is normal or its my set up.
Rig mines fine on Pools. I think I either got incredibly lucky finding 2 blocks so close together and quickly, or I have no clue how to set up EXPIRY and SCAN-TIME for a solo mining rig with a pitiful 700Kh/s.
Was wondering if you kind people have any advice for a newb about Expiry and Scan settings? Currently EXPIRY = 30, SCAN-TIME = 1
Ofc once the pools are back I'll be joining one of them. until then I wanted to enjoy the feeling of finding a block. First time I have ever found a block, was very exciting! (lol i should get out more :) )

Getting also rejects. They are working on it. Make sure you downloaded new client and that its in line with GLD block explorer.

Thanks Aziz, got the latest client, 0.7.1.4 will just google "Block explorer" and check.
Hehe if you look up newbie in the dictionary I'm sure theres a picture of me looking gormless ;)

had a quick check seems my client and the block explorer are both in sync. I'll keep trying on and off during tonight and see if it irons itself out.
Does any1 have any recommendations for Expiry and Scantime while solo mining. some ppl say set them both to "1" other disagree and say leave Expiry at default time and set scan to 5-12s.

at block 103000 there will be hardfork to fix difficulty. Cross your fingers. Futhermore i am a NOOB in technical issues. Lets hope the devs can fix these mining problems.

Our developers are aware of this situation and have released a client patch. Please make sure you update your client (see news top of this page) before block 103000. Pools will resume operation once network difficulty normalizes.

still rejecting 100%, I'll just wait for the pools to come back online as for some reason my rig seems to hate Solo Mining, shame as it found 2 blocks so easily I thought I was gonna be a GoldCoin version of Rockerfella ;p

I'm getting 100% rejects too, but there are new blocks being released, so someone must be getting them...

Same here Rejects at 29550 after 30-40mins or so. Yet new blocks appear every 10-30s. I wonder if it something to do with me only having 700Kh/s of power, that I'm just too slow to find a block and submit it.
Would be interesting to know if any of the Mh/s people are having lots of rejects?
Yet I'm still eager to mine solo, so I'm sure I'll keep trying.

I've had my miner running for the past 12/13 hours at about 395 kh/s only 1 card.
So far I've found 19 Blocks Accepted-22328 and had Rejects-268044
I still seem to be getting quite a few rejects after block 103000, was that not when the fix came in?
I'm not sure if the calculator is out, or I'm doing something wrong, but I've typed the current difficulty into it, and I should be finding 16 blocks an hour at difficulty 0.02116937 with 395 kh/s

I have up to 10,000 Kh/s at my disposal, but it seems mining this coin at a heavy hash rate yields worse results. What would you suggest the recommended hashrate to obtain the greatest success of finding a block?

I was still getting rejects from mining on my CPU, which ofc is the lowest of hash rates you can go. So I don't think that can be the issue, even on my spare PC with a nvidia card using Cudaminer I was getting rejects. I think the difficulty just needs to increase which in turn with let the overall hashrate increase, therefore letting more of our blocks be accepted. I think the difficulty is just tooo low atm, it might seem like a miners paradise but I don't think that is or ever was intended to be the case.

I found my first two 11 hours ago and since 103000 , I have found 4. So , for me, it's better than before ;) It would of been nice to of mined a block with the CPU though as I never had!

I'm using cgminer and I find that if your intensity setting is to high you end up with a lot of hardware errors HW so you don't get the full benefit of the hashrate your mining at, I-13 seems to be optimal setting. Also try changing your thread concurrency see if that makes any difference.
I'm using a 7870xt with settings: I 13 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 -w 256 --gpu-engine 840 --gpu-memclock 1500 --vectors 1 --expiry 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale -s 1

just got home and noticed I found 2 blocks with my 7770 around 175 khs. Dont know if it helped but I changed some settings in CGminer this morning Queue 0 Scantime 2 Expiry 2. I also changed the time on my computer to universal standard time to have cg miner reading the same time as the block explorer. Maybe this morning I just finally got lucky or these settings helped . My time is also synchronized with time-a.nist.gov

Okay, my stats right now with CGMiner are 27 Blocks Accepted (5 Orphans), 398 Blocks rejected, mining with a HD7960 @ 500 kH/s average. Runtime was about 14.5 Hours.
Systemtime gets synced every 5 Min.
I know that the 103000 Block-fix will take a while for full effect but those stats...
CGMiner is version 1.7.2
Settings are:
thread-concurrency 8192
2 threads
query 0
scantime 2
expiry 2
intensity 13
worker 256
So long, i'm back to mining :P

Been running for an hour or two and so far 1 reject, yet nothing else though. Other than "new block detected" .... my best share so far is 19k but it got rejected :(
so it looks like my rubbish luck is whats killing my mining ;)
Forgot to say my settings are the same as yours Byte4ngel, except im running cgminer 3.5.0

My best share was 262815...got accepted and i'm 45 GLD richer xD
That was about a min ago.
Anyways, if i can mine about 10 blocks a day i'd be happy with it (need about 10k GLD, want to get a friend Payday2 ^^). I'd even be happy if i only get 5 or 7 blocks a day but right now most gets rejected.
Guess we just have to wait and see what happens.
Btw. i saw that the exchanging rate got pretty low in the last 3 hours or so :(

I didn't even notice it until i check wallet before shutting it down. No I dont know if i should play CoD Ghosts or continue mining ... decisions ;p

Yeah...it's a bit like the stock market...selling your stocks or wait a few more hours/days and hope your stocks rise further.
It could go one way or another, ether your GLD rise in the next weeks/months or fall below the current exchange rate.
On the long run i'd say it's better to keep most of the mined GLD because i think they will rise...but like said, they could also fall.
But i'm no Financal expert or something, that's just my thoughts and maybe i'm naiv but i really want the GLD to succseed^^

I would hate to have been the guy that bought 2 Pizzas for 10,000 BTC 2years or so ago. Those pizza's cost him $1,000,000 each... ouch

We all want Goldcoin to succeed. If we can overcome these technical issues than everything is possible in my eyes. Lot of coins are looking if GoldCoin can really implement this 51% security. GoldCoin is taking a lot of risk, but i think its worth it. We need to innovate to get to the top.

Yeah it really is/was a very risky step to implement this but if GoldCoin did it right and really is the Coin that could implement this, it could improve the exchangerate drastically!

looks like things are steadily getting better, left my 7970 mining over night and it found 5 blocks, still got a lot of rejects, but at least its now finding blocks :)
