Guys what happened? I go to work full time for two weeks and I come back today to find out that the GoldCoin market is doing much better ;) but our Wiki page is gone ;(. This just happened five days ago, "The result was delete. Mark Arsten (talk) 00:57, 9 November 2013 (UTC)" We need to stand up for GoldCoin and show our support. I will try to start it up again this weekend when I have the time. But please feel free to beat me to it. We can't let the competition silence the word of Goldcoin. Our efforts need to exceed theirs. Knowledge is power! We must inform the uninformed about our awesome cryptocurrency!

I'm totally for this. Please try and create it again and we will contribute effectively as possible, I had no idea we even had a GoldCoin wiki page!

Seems https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Mark_Arsten removed it,
There is a discussion now on the bottom of the page.
-
My understanding is there's an appeals process for page deletions. Perhaps the community should explore this avenue?

The discussion continues.... Wiki wants "coverage by established sources that are independent of the subject, i.e. newspapers, magazines, etc. If you can point some of those out to me, there's a chance the article could be undeleted. Mark Arsten (talk) 04:41, 18 November 2013 (UTC)"
Hi Mark Arsten, I see you keep stating that“…the supporters of deletion argued convincingly that the subject had not received significant coverage in reliable sources.” U repeated yourself when u said, “…if there is not significant coverage in reliable sources it should be deleted.” However, there are plenty of extremely reliable sources that were provided. In other words the real question is who is deciding what is “significant coverage in reliable sources” and what isn’t. Here is a link to the GoldCoin Official Repository https://github.com/goldcoin/gldcoin where you will find detailed information about what the program is and what it is actually doing. Here is a quick explanation “GoldCoin (GLD) - an improved version of Litecoin using scrypt as a proof of work scheme. • 2.5 minute block targets up till block 45000 • 2 minute block targets there after • 504 blocks per difficulty re GoldCoin (GLD) - an improved version of Litecoin using scrypt as a proof of work scheme. • 2.5 minute block targets up till block 45000 • 2 minute block targets there after • 504 blocks per difficulty retarget up to block 45000 • 60 blocks per difficulty retarget thereafter • target up to block 45000 • 60 blocks per difficulty retarget thereafter“ You can also contact the developers of this program at http://gldcoin.com/contact-us/ who would be more than happy to explain their work to you ;) Nihondino (talk) 04:27, 18 November 2013 (UTC)nihondino
I'm sure it's a great program, but that's kind of a red herring here. Whether something is ingenious or junk doesn't affect its notability. What we look for is coverage by established sources that are independent of the subject, i.e. newspapers, magazines, etc. If you can point some of those out to me, there's a chance the article could be undeleted. For the wiki page, we need independent sources. gldcoin.com and gldtalk.org are not independent.
This is one independent link I found:
http://majesti.co/cryptonerd/goldcoin-0-7-1-4-update-critical-update/
If any of these other "magazines" have articles, then that is what we need.

Ok guys. I'm going to put my 2 cents in here. My gut feeling is that the GoldCoin wiki page is being blocked by those that have financial interests in GoldCoin not succeeding. This is [LANGUAGE] DISGUSTING that someone would have this kind of power over this online resource.
Having said that, we are talking about BASIC [LANGUAGE] FACTS. If we can't post BASIC [LANGUAGE] FACTS to the wikipedia page then something is wrong.
Perhaps we can have an outside source validate these BASIC [LANGUAGE] FACTS.
Also who is the SLIMY [LANGUAGE] that CLEARLY has a financial interest in keeping GoldCoin from succeeding that is blocking the article? Are other alt coins having this problem with this person? Let's start talking names here.

I am not sure what kind of independent sources they are looking for, but if my blog helps, I would be more than happy to include a detailed article on GLD. I've written a few viral posts (e.g. http://btcgeek.com/dawn-of-autonomous-corporations/) and other established articles and interviews. If you think it would help as a reference for Wikipedia, let me know. More than happy to help!

What about a press release about goldcoin and the new android app for example?
I can organise that and distribute it over PR web myself.
It will get picked up by many sites.

Im sad no one has added third party sources. I will start making a list of credible third party sources to post on this discussion, once I have at least 10-15 solid sources I will add to the post in hopes of getting the GoldCoin page restored. Have a look https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Mark_Arsten&oldid=582155114#Deletion_of_page_GoldCoin_-_Discussion_here:_https:.2F.2Fen.wikipedia.org.2Fwiki.2FWikipedia:Articles_for_deletion.2FGoldcoin

Yes. This is a nice article indeed. I do see a couple of mistakes in that I'm the forum administrator (not a developer) and the author linked to my old bitcoinranger YouTube channel which is no longer updated. :)
