I'd recommend mining using a smart pool rather than mining GLD.  I posted in another topic about this but you will make more profit than just mining gold coin.  You can probably mine about 30-60 GLD/day if your running close to 24hr/day 

With your set up you should probably be able to get ~0.003 BTC/day using the clever miner pool.  You can then BUY GLD with that BTC and be able to acquire far more than if you mined it yourself.  This will also help improve the value of GLD.

That said, mining GLD means you're also strengthening the network which also helps GLD over all.  Up to you in the end.  Here is the link.

So while I was originally fine with the idea of ASICs, I have started to get concerned that if too many set their sites on GLD, it will fall victim to massive selling once the powerful miners are done consuming more profitable coins.  I don't remember the coins set up off hand.  Does anyone remember if the difficulty settings will prevent it from ever becoming the most profitable coin to mine?  All that matters is that it is less profitable to mine than some other coin after all. ; )

Hey guys I was originally mining GLD, but realized that this won't do much to help the exchange value.  I can either sell it, which is not great, or hold it, which again is not very useful.  Not only that but it is not very profitable to mine GLD for the average Joe, even with the rising price (which is great).

What I have started to do, is use a "smart" pool.  Its designers use their own algorithms to mine the most profitable coins at the moment and then convert them to BTC which they send to you.  This makes me way more on average than I could just mining a single alt coin.  What I then do is use that BTC to buy GLD, which actually nets me far more than mining alone AND brings value to the table.   

For example, I can mine ~25 GLD with my computer/day without disrupting my regular activities (ie not when I'm sleeping or gaming), but with a smart pool I can acquire enough BTC to purchase ~54GLD per day.  Doubling my GLD return AND helping to boost the price. 

I use clever miner which can net me about 0.002BTC per day (not bad considering I just have one GTX 760) if I mine for about 8 hours a day.   Here the link below, though there are several other smart pools out there.  Something to think about.  Every little thing can help GoldCoin rise to victory.

I actually would not mind creating a formal version each month (at least in the near future) but I would need the contact information of every major player in Goldcoin so I could assemble the information without too much stress on everyone else.  I could just call/email once a month.

I would make it a formal document so there would ideally need to be a place on the main website to "publish" it to.  We could also send it to every member's email or something.  Not every gold coin user uses these forums after all.  If you all are interested contact me via email and I can make up some document designs for approval.

If you're referring to logo posted on the forums a bit back, I agree.  That logo would do wonders for perception.  While the technical side appears to be amazing, the initial hook is usually an extremely polished appearance.  You come for the polish, you see the good community, and then your fears are put to rest because of the technical side.  At least that's how I was.

Originally I thought the point of GoldCoin would be to become a force in digital currency.  If this was the goal then really the whole point is to have people use it for . . . well money.  Businesses and individuals must start accepting it in exchange for goods and services.

Now after the IRS ruling, it seems like the future for GoldCoin may be as . . . well gold.  You can't go out and give people a bunch of gold (realistically) but it is the most tangible form of wealth I can think of.  If this coin's future is a form of digital gold (totally fine in my mind).  We need to change up the way we have been thinking I think.  And I am not sure what to do about this.  Forming the impression of intrinsic value in something is not I am familiar with. (really like the 51% defense)

To me it is difficult to answer the questions asked in this thread without first coming to this so called "fork in the road"
