Yes you're right. My CSS went a bit awry - I'll fix that ASAP. In the mean time, you can click the submit content button and choose the type of post in the page that follows. There are tabs for links and text posts.

Thanks :)

I do want to replace that header background image with something that doesn't obscure the logo text. I'm open to suggestions since I'm pretty bad at finding them myself. Requirements are that the image should be at least 1920 pixels wide. Height can be anything, but only ~200px will be visible.

If you see anything you don't like or want changed on that subreddit, please let me know. I'll do my best to accommodate that.

Sure, I'd be okay with that. My reddit username is "shinigamibob"

I can take a stab at it. I'm going to be styling the /r/goldcointip subreddit as well, so I can try to keep a consistent theme across both.

I think I do have a goldcoin address in my signature. If you're on mobile it doesn't show up.

Also, next time, tip a bit... slower :D The bot couldn't keep up with the sheer amount of requests so it missed like half of them XD. I suggest waiting about a minute or so between tips, just to be safe.

6
Are you perhaps "couchranger" on reddit? I'm barely keeping up manually approving those tips at your crazy pace :D

Please, you give me too much credit  ;D

I'm just glad to be doing my part to help the community.

Final update:

I've rented out a server for a full year and configured the final version of the (fully working) bot. The username of that bot is "/u/goldcointip" and I've made a subreddit for it as well. This subreddit will host the tipping bots' wiki page - usage instructions, discussions about the bot itself, bug reports, and links to the various Goldcoin resources. I'll be building that out over the next little while. The subreddit can be found here: http://reddit.com/r/goldcointip . There's nothing visible at the moment, but we should have some content later on.

As before, message the bot with "+register" in the body to get registered, then follow up with "+info" for your address. Deposit some coins and you can start tipping anyone in any thread. Just reply to the comment you want to give goldcoins to with "+/u/goldcointip x gld" where x is the amount you want to send. You can even replace x with some fun values like "beer" or "leet" or "pi". All these will be added to the wiki soon.

If, when you register (or tip someone) with the bot you don't get a reply back, don't worry. The bot is working, but the first bunch of replies have to be manually approved because of reddits' CAPTCHA system. I'll have to input captchas manually until the bot gains positive karma at which point it'll be fully automated. So, uh... get those upvotes going :D

Thanks to everyone who helped test the previous versions.

Update: I've re-deployed the bot on a different server. Please register again. Hopefully things will work this time.

Ignore registration confirmations prior to this message. They were from the old server which is inactive.

Thanks to everyone for helping test this.

I sent a +register and a +info message but haven't gotten anything back so far.

I'm looking into it right now. The bot has WAY too many bugs than I'd like so I'll have to squash them one at a time, very slowly.

EDIT: Looks like my server is acting up. I'm going to remake the bot on my personal server and see what happens.

Good progress. Spent a couple hours and I finally got a test bot working. Now I just need some volunteers to help test it.

To get started, send a message to "bob_test" with the subject "register" and the message body with "+register". Then check your inbox after a minute or so for your deposit address. Deposit some coins to that address and start tipping away! It may take a while for your deposit to show up. Check after 10 or so confirmations by messaging the bot again with "+info" in the message body.

Syntax to tip someone would be reply to whomever you want to tip with the following in the message "+/u/bob_test x gld"

As of now, the bot only works on messages in /r/goldcoin to avoid spamming other subreddits

Disclaimer: Be prepared to lose whatever you deposit into the test bot. Don't deposit large sums. Start small - 5 coins to start with perhaps.

I've been working on it for the past couple days and I have to say, the process is needlessly complicated. Dogecointip is a fork of the altcointip bot and that uses opscodes' chef to handle pretty much everything. For someone with a working chef node, it'd be fairly trivial to get the bot up and running, but for anyone who's never heard of chef, this opens up a huge can of worms. Its beyond complicated to set up.

That said, looking at dogetipbots' repo on github, the instructions seem fairly straightforward. I'll be trying to set that up on my personal server for the next little while. Nothing guarantee of course  :P

Just registered. This is shaping up to be very cool.

Just wanted to update the thread with some new info:

The coins are still in the in unconfirmed section on the receiving end. The sender shows the correct balance minus the missing 90 coins. I ran both clients with the -rescan option, but that didn't appear to change anything.

Am I just being impatient (since its been two weeks since I originally tried to transfer the coins) or is there something possibly wrong here? I hope its just my impatience...

Thanks in advance for any help.
