At a certain block height (when block's are getting full), addresses with coin are divided up between new chains--a chain split.  The miners (and full nodes) also divide up between chains.  At this point, addresses on chain 1 can only send to chain 1 however any address created will work on any chain.  So now when you spend coin on chain 2, it will be received by an address on chain 2.  Any new address created, however, can receive coins on any chain but, once again only spend on the chain it received on.

Example:
If there were 8 cardinal chains,  address E1UG2nBnxbKoBuvZt1NQqxkRiZR35gfsJS could exist on all chains but this would be a separate identity for each one.  Another address on chain 2 could send 5 coins to E1UG2nBnxbKoBuvZt1NQqxkRiZR35gfsJS and the balance for E1UG2nBnxbKoBuvZt1NQqxkRiZR35gfsJS on chain 2 would be 5 (assuming it was 0 initially).  The other 7 chains would not have a record of E1UG2nBnxbKoBuvZt1NQqxkRiZR35gfsJS.  However, if an address on chain 8 wanted to send 10 coins to E1UG2nBnxbKoBuvZt1NQqxkRiZR35gfsJS, it could and the balance for E1UG2nBnxbKoBuvZt1NQqxkRiZR35gfsJS on chain 8 would be 10.  2:E1UG2nBnxbKoBuvZt1NQqxkRiZR35gfsJS could send up to 5 coins on chain 2 and 8: E1UG2nBnxbKoBuvZt1NQqxkRiZR35gfsJS could send up to 10 coins on chain 8.  Notice the prefixes designating the cardinal chain.

Current block size limits could be maintained.  The transactions would be divided among chains over time allowing for much greater scalability.   A protocol would have to be determined for wallets and partial nodes(spv, etc.) to discover full nodes on each chain so when a client wants to spend coin on a particular cardinal chain(chain 1, chain 2, chain 3, etc.) it can reach the proper full nodes for that chain.  Also, any cardinal chain can split when blocks start getting full.

There are a ton of implementation details but this is the general idea.

Altcoin Discussion / MasterNodes
« on: March 03, 2017, 04:05:06 PM »
I'm starting to really like the concept of master nodes that help vote and pay for advertising along with providing other benefits.  Very interesting.  That could benefit a lot of coins with the understanding and resources to use the code base and implement it.

GoldCoin Discussion / Why do you believe in GoldCoin?
« on: September 06, 2016, 03:18:42 AM »
The thing I like about GoldCoin is it will implement the best protocols and strategies once they have been fleshed out.  The team does not believe in rigid stances.  That's why it's the Gold Standard of Cryptocurrency.  GoldCoin will always do what's best for it's owners.

Service Discussion / Poloniex
« on: September 02, 2016, 12:34:05 AM »
As we keep growing, we may want to consider applying to be listed on Poloniex.  I see a lot of coins there get delisted though over time but if this organic growth continues...I sure would love to see GoldCoin there.

GoldCoin Discussion / Just Thoughts
« on: July 18, 2016, 10:02:51 PM »
I wish there were a random  section here of some type.  I never know where to post just random thoughts and I don't want MicroDaddy to spank me.  :)

Anyhow, I always thought Bitcoin missed a big opportunity with colored coins and small towns.  I've seen several towns implement their own money to try to keep spending local.  It would be pretty cool if we could do that with GoldCoin.  I'm not sure how tough that would be but just a thought

Also, those thin clients are so very important.  Good work on that guys.

The Break Room / GoldCoin kicking Butt
« on: June 17, 2016, 05:12:52 PM »
GoldCoin is kicking some major behind but it's not taking names.  It's not taking names because who the hell wants the names of all these losers.  GoldCoin's not to be trifled with this time.

Digital Currency News / Jaxx Wallet
« on: June 15, 2016, 11:37:51 PM »
It appears the Jaxx Wallet is becoming very popular.  Currently it supports Bitcoin and Ethereum but they plan on aggressively supporting many currencies from the looks of it.   I would bet all of MicroGuys hair and half his good looks that whatever coins are able to make it into that wallet are going to do very well.  I think they may plan on integrating the top 100 but I'm not sure.

I'd bet we'd be pretty easy to integrate for them.  It might be a good idea to start talking to those boys.

Anyhow, just another random thought from tadspoles.

Here's an interesting discussion.

The Break Room / Go GoldCoin
« on: June 04, 2016, 08:45:29 PM »
It's rising boys.  I can feel it.   GoldCoin is the coin that's going to survive the wars long term.  I'm telling you.   You can't have currency wars without GoldCoin.  It's going to smack your enemies kid in the face and take his ice cream cone.

GoldCoin Discussion / Sick of it! It's Ugly
« on: May 30, 2016, 09:48:27 AM »
So I've been looking at coincap.io lately and I have to tell you , I'm sick of the coins at the top.   They are plain ugly.  What is a world without goldcoin as a top crypto?  Goldcoin must rise if only to knock out the uggos.

GoldCoin Discussion / Possible Next Steps for GoldCoin
« on: December 06, 2014, 04:46:10 PM »
A large hurdle for bitcoin in my opinion is name services.  It absolutely SUCKS having to use third parties like Onename.io for this AND it's not integrated into some of the best clients like electrum.  This is opportunity for GoldCoin.  Personally my friends and family couldn't imagine sending me money using something like this:
1mHyjwwZNGDM2DBZwG3EUDMzkQ8a5k9FS

If we can build some type of name service within the client and thin clients we will be FAR ahead of the game.

Do we have a thin client like electrum yet.  I know we have the phone app (I am ashamed I haven't used it yet).  Can this work as an electrum like thin client?

Anyhow, name services built into all clients will be huge.

I'd love to send gold to microguy or microguy@goldcoin or some similar name.

Technical Discussion / Two digits to the right of the decimal
« on: November 06, 2014, 11:21:16 AM »
I have championed the two digits to the right of the decimal for bitcoin for a while now.  I also believe the name bits is perfect.  "You use bits on the bitcoin network."

Personally I think everywhere bitcoin is used it should be displayed like this (regardless of whether it is called bits or not):

2.34
89.23
93821.49
54.00

We should really consider this for GoldCoin as well.  Adoption is FAR easier when the currency looks like money that's currently being used.  As much as we can, we should try to get away from increments with long decimals: .00002345.

This is not pressing for GoldCoin now but we should consider it in the future.

GoldCoin Discussion / Attracting Members

I wonder if we can attract some cryptologists and mathematicians with unique ideas/approaches.
