On the current version of the block explorer, if we want to look at an address using http://gold.cryptocoinexplorer.com/address/, which has no transactions, we get this message:

404 Not Found
Address not found
Powered by CherryPy 3.2.2

however, on the older blockchain site:  http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/chain/Goldcoin, it will report that the address has not yet been seen on the network.

How-To Guides / How to Generate a QR Code
« on: September 18, 2013, 11:32:44 PM »
This guide is for generating a QR Code using the GoldCoin client software.

1.  Start the GoldCoin client.
2.  Click on Receive Coins.
3.  Create a new address, if necessary
4.  Select the address for which you want a QR Code
5.  Right Click that address and select "Show QR Code"
6.  If you want the QR code to contain a payment, such as 100 GLD, then check "Request Payment" and put in 100 GLD.
7.  You can also add an optional message.
8.  Click "Save As..." to save the QR code as an image file.
9.  Open the image file in the image editing program of your choice to print it.

Mining & Pools / Hash Cows - Multicoin Mining Pool
« on: September 16, 2013, 09:29:14 PM »
A new pool was found that supports GoldCoin, but only when it is the most profitable coin out of its list (ALF, ANC, CAP, CGB, DGC, DMD, EMD, FRK, FST, GDC, GLD, HBN, KGC, MEC, MNC, PHS).

http://hashco.ws/

The settings allow one to automatically sell mined coins for BTC or have them sent to another address to keep.

Excellent work.  The official spelling is GoldCoin, however!

How much GLD would you like to be paid for this?  45,000 seems fair, right? LOL.

Newbie Central / Re: Coin Mining Using Servers - CMS Module
« on: September 12, 2013, 04:42:52 PM »
I think the logistics on this would be difficult to implement.

Basically, the plugin would function as a GoldCoin client on the host computer, perhaps as a java applet.  As it turns out the back end of the Android App could be used as the underlying platform to handle much of the work of connecting to the GoldCoin network.  There may be other java miners out there for coins like Litecoin, which could be ported over.

The next hurdle is the transaction fee.  The host will be mining with a CPU, because java runs on the CPU, just like any other app that runs in a browser.  The GoldCoin yield with such an app will be very low.  This app would have to connect to a pool, to make mining worth while.  Solo mining could take months or years to get a block.  Because of the low yield from mining, payouts will be expensive.  Any amount transmitted below 0.01 will have a 0.1 charge on it.  To minimize fees, we would need to have a minimum requirement on mining, such as 1 GLD before it can be paid out.

These are some things that need to be considered by one who wants to program this.

The attached Zip file has two files.

The first (cryptsy.php) is a file that displays all the coins traded on Cryptsy and their associated average trading prices (based on the last 100 trades).  The second file (cryptsy_api.php) is the file that gets the information from crypsty.com and calculates the average price.

Depending on the day, 100 shares may not be 24 hours in total.  There is a way to get more that 100 trades, but that would require the private API.

http://stousenet.com/goldcoin/cryptsy.php - This will show all the average prices.

What is your experience using their API? I have been playing with it a bit today and it is very slow. Even using a specific coin (ex. http://pubapi.cryptsy.com/api.php?method=singlemarketdata&marketid=30) takes 35+ seconds to pull the api and often times out.

Yes the public API is slow.  It wasn't 35 seconds for me, but currently I am 1,500 miles from their servers.  Until you pointed it out, I didn't even know Cryptsy had expanded their API, which is beneficial if only a few coins are needed.

Perhaps you could submit a support ticket to Cryptsy about resolving this issue.  Perhaps their api servers are overloaded with trading bot requests.

Project Development / Re: Gold Coin Online Wallet
« on: September 09, 2013, 06:49:40 PM »
I saw your wallet site, it is very interesting, as it pays interest ( the pun was not intended).

An alternative is to use the open source blockchain.info and the android app that goes with it.

I would like to see more than one online wallet when all is said and done.

this can't be right.....

if it is, which exchange can I cash this out at? :)

fyi: this issue used to exist in the bitcoin wallet as well... not sure if it still does (i've since switched to another android wallet)

Also crashing periodically

Thank you both for pointing out these issues.

Theoretically, both of these matters have been resolved in the most recent beta version of this app.

There are plans to publish to the Google Play store.
