Hi Greg or other Members
a good friend of mine has the Goldcoin Wallet on his iPhone. He wants to send some GLC amount from his Paper Wallet (PW) to the Handy Goldcoin Wallet.
BUT.. he has no QR Code, while he did write the privat key etc. in hand writings while creating the PW.
How can he move on?
Thanks for your advices und I'm happy to join now also the goldcointalk.

Several options here:

Enter the private key manually into the desktop client.
Use a QR code generator to create a code and sweep with Android.
Use a QR code generator and scan with iOS after 11/11 wallet is released.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Technical Discussion / [UPDATE] 10/24 Mobile Apps Status Report

[Mobile Apps Update]

1. The Android app currently has a bug that causes the exchange rate displayed to be inaccurate. Our developers are aware of this issue and have a fix in the works that should be available on our around Nov 4th. We don't consider this bug to be critical as it does not impact the security of the wallet nor does it affect the sending and receiving of coins. (Resolved)

2. The iOS app has two bugs. The exchange rate is broken and no longer displays, and if users update to the latest version of iOS, it breaks the sending functionality of the app. We're attempting now to gain access to the Apple Developer account which belongs to a former team member. Although these bugs do not impact security, the broken sending feature IS considered a critical issue. (In Progress)

In the best interest of the project, I think this is the best path to chart. If RBH will cause a network split which cannot sustain at this fragile moment, then a new fork to replace it becomes a good call.

Technical Discussion / [UPDATE] 11/11 Network Upgrade and Technical Discussion
« Last post by MicroGuy on October 20, 2019, 07:51:27 AM »
On Nov 11th, the Goldcoin developers will be releasing an updated version of the Goldcoin Core client software. This upgrade will replace the previously scheduled RBH.

[Rational]

It was determined this week that we did not have a required consensus of nodes to fully adopt the RBH. This would have resulted in a critical network split creating two versions of the Goldcoin blockchain. As you can see using the network tool below our decentralized network is highly distributed.

Rather than risking the negative effects of a network split, the development team has decided to move forward with a traditional hard fork using an updated client that will remain backward compatible for an extended period.

This revised update will allow us to increase our network capacity as previously scheduled without disrupting our network or creating an inflationary event.

[Key benefits]
  • No risk of network split
  • The update will be backward compatible
  • Network nodes will have 6 months to upgrade
  • There will be zero inflation
  • Nodes won't be burdened with the storage requirements of the BTC blockchain
  • Tx throughput will increase to ‭1,120‬ TPS
  • Our immutable ledger will remain fully intact
[Conclusion]

This revised update, to be released on Nov 11th, will allow us to increase our network capacity (as previously announced) without disrupting our network or creating an inflationary event for users.
