It is build around NFC to provide contactless payments, but also displays QR codes as a fallback. Only the merchant needs to be connected to the internet, if the customer has a wallet that is able to transmit a copy of the Bitcoin transaction via Bluetooth. Integration with BitPay provides payout in fiat or BTC.
