Looking for Images

I was wondering if all the images concerning Goldcoin are copyright free.  I would like to throw together a website generating interest and would like permission to use any images associated with Goldcoin.  Speaking of images, is there a image bank I can pull from?

Any images i post up are usually photo-shopped from another image. The original images, I cant really say if they were copyrighted or not, I pull most of them off google images and edit them in gimp.
 Im not sure of the law surrounding editing pictures and then using them for other things. Who then owns the new work? the guy who created the new image or the guy who created the original? I've heard different things come into play, like if its a parody of the original and to be honest copyright law has been a [beep] since its inception so I just ignore it, just another hindrance on us all . If someone has an issue with a bit of their original image being mashed into a different image then fine, just take it down.

Id say crack on with what you want to do, you can use any of the images i've put up if you like(in the art thread), I cant say whether this means you are breaking some copyright or not but who cares really, its time to start ignoring all the bull that surrounds us, we are moving into an new era, a new resistance,change of powers and into new ways of doing things.

If a photo has a copyright no matter what part you use of it, it is still copyrighted by the original owner. When it comes to copyrights it's very tricky and it can end up costing you money just by editing the image and using part of it. On one side some copyright owners don't mind if you use their photo, as long as your not making any money or profit from it. On the other hand there are some who just go nuts and want to sue everyone that even uses a small part of their work.

For example I have a friend that has online painting classes.

He gives everyone a template they can use for the class.

Everyone paints the same painting. They may use different colors etc.. But if anyone ever offers them money for the painting they can not sell it. Why because he owns the copyright to the template they used. He has told students if you want to sell it. You must change 75% of the painting (Template),  if you change it by 75% it's not them same painting. So you can never sell the painting or anything that looks like it.

Try finding Creative Commons photos you can use. For example
CC BY means anyone can use it for what ever they want.
CC BY-SA Some limits on it's use.

Here's an example of Creative Commons for music. A friend and I wrote this for a radio show I use to do.

I wrote some of the lyrics and a friend on mine in Scotland wrote some lyrics and the music.

He produced it in Scotland. So it falls under his laws or Creative Commons License. He released it under Creative Commons. (Myself I don't really care what people do with it.) But it's his License because he wrote some of the lyrics, music and produced it, but I do have some say whats done with it. When it comes right down to it, We don't mind what people do with it as long as no one is making any money from it. Anyone can record it and give it away under the same Creative Commons License.

I don't think to many people want to record it or sing it for that matter, it was for a comedy/music radio show at the time Note: I no longer have the site listed in the video. I don't do that many voice overs any more.

    Give credit to the artist
    Don't use this album for commercial purposes

you mentioned if a picture is changed 75% then its a new picture. So what would happen if i changed the hue of the whole picture(like i usually do). This means every single pixel of the picture has been changed making it a 100% different picture? I find if theres not a copyright symbol or signature at the bottom of the original picture(which i always avoid) then people dont care what you do with it.

To be honest I don't know about changing the hue on a photo. I don't know that much about it, but enough to try and stay out of trouble. Like I said some people don't mind and others do. You just never know, but using photos without a copyright, name or watermark on it might be the best thing to do. But don't hold me to that, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

As I stated for the most part I don't think people mind and long as your not making a profit from it. But you never know some people will sue because they didn't give anyone the rights to use it. I would use Creative Commons photos to be on the safe side. But it's up to each person what they use and how they use it.

All I can say is, I own the copyrights on my paintings and photos of my paintings. I could sue someone if they use my photo.  Will I? If I find out they are making money by using my photos, you bet I'll sue them. Unless they are smart enough to ask and let me know what their doing with it and why. Who knows I could say give me $50, $20, $5 or say, sure go ahead and use it.  It's amazing what you can get by asking someone sometimes.

The 75% is what the copyright owner stated. He is in a different country so I don't know the laws. It would be like me saying you have to change my painting by 75% before you call it your own.  I have a hard enough time trying to keep up with US laws. As you know one day it's okay the next day it isn't, or it wasn't but now it is. I can do it, But you can't. You know how it is

This might be an example. I use to do voice overs and I did some for free to help out hobby broadcasters. I own the rights to my voice, right? I offered to do free voice overs for hobby broadcasters. You know what happened, I ended up doing free voice overs for Sky News in the UK and the largest radio network in India. Now these are two big time radio networks they should have paid for them. Could I sue them yes but seeing they are in different countries makes it more trouble than it's worth. The funny thing about the Sky News one is, I was on Skype with a couple of DJ's from the UK and I was playing demos. I played one and one guy says, HEY! I hear that all the time on the radio over here, That's you? That's how I found out Sky News was using my voice.

Sorry I kind of went on a rant... Get me going on copyrights etc. and sometimes I don't know when to stop LOL
