Block Halving - When is it?
« on: December 09, 2013, 12:10:42 PM »
I know it's on the forum some place, I just can't find it.  At least I think we had a estimate some place as far as months or something. To help give people an idea when halving would happen.

I was on gldcoin.com and of course it has what was done so far.  But there's no estimate when the next reduction is other than stating "Reward is then reduced each year using the following formula: 50 divided by (1.1 + 0.49*every year thereafter)"

Around when will GoldCoin payouts be reduced?

Thanks,

The current block reward of 45 will produce around 13 million coins over a period of one year. But unlike many other coins, the Goldcoin reward blocks don't halve. They are reduced by the formula you posted once per annum. This is designed so that coin production gradually decreases over a 100-year period with a total output of around 120 million coins.
