Greetings from El Cid
« on: December 11, 2013, 12:11:48 AM »
Greetings from the parapets of EL Cid, a Goldcoin bounce from Worth Ave. in Palm Beach.
I purchased 5000 Goldcoins the other day to jump on the train. These are indeed interesting times we live in.
It's good to see a nice surge from Goldcoin into the top 20 on Crypto-Cap.
I am in the process of building a mining rig and I am in a little over my head.
I will be taking it to an expert to get me up and running. I'm looking forward to digging up some Goldcoin when I get it together!
Great to be here!

So I'm no computer sceientist but I am posting to the forum on my first home built computer :)

I have these:

Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 WF 3X GHz Edition 3GB GDDR5 PCI-Express 3.0 DVI-I/HDMI/2x mini-DP Crossfire Ready Graphics Card GV-R797TO-3GD

I have two in my possesion and two more on the way, they are becoming hard to get and expensive.
Here is my problem. Without the cards in the PCIe slots I can start the computer and get a video signal through the D-sub port on the motherboard (Gigabyte AMD FM2 A85X ATX Motherboard with Triple-Monitor support and Windows 8 Ready DDR3 1800 AMD - FM2 Motherboards GA-F2A85X-UP4)
I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night and have not a clue as to how to get this rig mining.

I am happy that this is the first post from the computer I put together but very frustrated that I can't mine with it yet. Can one of you Super Geeks help a newb out? Please. here are hot links to all the parts I purchased on Amazon.

If this is in the wrong area please feel free to move it. Please help me, I am bald so I will be ripping my hair out from the top down starting with my eyebrows if I don't get this working soon. Thanks in advance.

Tom

Something wierd, it won't allow me to preview the post. It say's " fetching preview " an then it doesn't display it so this is going up blind!

Looks like I have 3 choices in BiOS for primary Video Device

IGD Video

NB PCIe slot Video

SB PCIe slot Video

Which would be the proper selection?

Dude your my hero, you effin rock!!! :)

I put the card in the PCIe x4 , as
I thought this was the north bridge and it took awhile
Then the windows screen appeared.
Now to add the other card?
And two more when they arrive?
So how would you add another? Power down , leave the settings the same
Add the next card and power up? ;D

My wireless connection is super slow ( U verse ). Windows update takes for ever. Should I disable that function and where can I do it. I'm an Apple guy so this is my first Wintel in a long time. Man I am so happy. I thought constantly plugging and unplugging the cards would screw them up, I am very relieved . I snapped off one of the clips from the motherboard removing one of the cards the first time but it seems minor and should not interfere with the performance of the board ( I hope)

You can disable windows update but I would not do that.

Here is where you can do that -- Start - Control Panel - Sytem And Security - Turn Updates on/off
