The future success of the coin
« on: December 25, 2013, 08:09:00 AM »
Hi
In order to achieve popularity and justify its name necessary make the following important steps.
1. Need to update the wallet GLDcoin considering upgrading to patch 0.8 and integrate it into the system Pos (Proof Of Stake)  to prevent and protect against attack 51%.
While it will not be undertaken big investors will not invest in this coin lot of money.
2. New wallet should have its own individual interface. For example how it is implemented in Megacoin and Worldcoin.
3. You need to correct logo coins because the current logo with increasing looks as if it is drawn on cardboard.
Thanks!

1) GoldCoin has already a buildin 51% defense system to reduce attacks.
2) Akumaburn is already working on improving the GoldCoin client. He is building a new client from scratch.
3) I agree with you that we need a new logo.

When I look at coinmarketcap.com, the GoldCoin logo looks the best to me.

I'm not sure what you mean about the cardboard. You can see it's a printed circuit board in his image.

There aren't any plans to change the logo but it's possible there might be some minor refinements somewhere down the road.

Thanks for the answer.
Maybe I'm not very well expressed. When I said about the logo, I mean its background. It would be better to
replace it to a more harmonious. The present version of the logo on the  official site http://gldcoin.com is a bit like a button.

Hi,

I couldn't find some statement on homepage about point 1.
I was holding 50 GLD on my Cryptsywallet and noticed today that they are now 52 GLD.
Is there an PoS system already implemted on Goldcoin - what are the specs of it?
Kindly thanks in advance!

That's interesting. There is no such system planned or implemented in Goldcoin.

Perhaps this is some sort of cryptsy accounting error?

I think I followed that document correctly but it seems there is one flaw (I may just be missing).

Towards the end of the document on Page 5 of 6, at Step 3 it states:
"The attacker waits for 6 confirms, the coins confirm on Cryptsy and are added to his virtual balance."

And then Step 4 states:
"The attacker now spends his balance and converts it to Bitcoin and transfers it to a cooling off address."

Here is where my confusion happens.  I am reading that the attacker has basically already made profit at this point since he converted to Bitcoin or whatever and has spent money.  I get that they would have a hard time from repeating this process based on the remaining steps, but what prevents this one time cash grab?

Again sorry if I am misunderstanding the way its written but that's the way it seems as it leaves a door open for at least 1 time effort to make off with some coin/cash/whatever.

Thanks otherwise the document does help with better understanding for a newbie like me.

The attacker's plan is to double-spend 100K coins. In order to double spend, he must first have some coins to double spend. So the initial 100K coins are obtained through legitimate means. In other words, he either mines or purchases the starting coins.

The 51% defense prevents the attacker from spending the coins a second time (aka double spending).

Hello.
I've been here did not come. Just wondering what has changed since my last visit. Why still goldcoin traded only on the stock exchange cryptsy? Now there are a lot of different exchangers Is this coin nobody cares? No progress coins in the Chinese market.
Wallet coin still has not been updated and it only works when you install (why not the portable version for windows platform?) now to get a portable wallet need the install Goldcoin.exe on the virtual machine and then copy all the files from folder goldcoin. Normal unpacking Goldcoin.exe file is not supported.
I very much hope that the situation will change in the near future ..

There is a new client under development. You can check the progress here: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=2616.0

The problem with exchanges has been too many fly-by-night exchanges that close without notice and take people's money. We are currently listed on Cryptsy which is a highly reputable and stable company.

I think it would be great if you would help us in promoting the Goldcoin currency throughout China. An active and engaged community is the strength of any cryptocurrency.

Have passed a lot of time but what has changed?
You still do not want to change anything in this coin? such as adding a hybrid system POW + POS and reduce transaction time to 1 minute?
If there is no development is soon to this coin will only the name..

Thank you for commenting. I think a robust community discussion is essential as we grow and evolve the currency.

How exactly will making the changes you propose bring value to the coin? Are you aware that a new client is currently under development?
