Possible Next Steps for GoldCoin

A large hurdle for bitcoin in my opinion is name services.  It absolutely SUCKS having to use third parties like Onename.io for this AND it's not integrated into some of the best clients like electrum.  This is opportunity for GoldCoin.  Personally my friends and family couldn't imagine sending me money using something like this:

If we can build some type of name service within the client and thin clients we will be FAR ahead of the game.

Do we have a thin client like electrum yet.  I know we have the phone app (I am ashamed I haven't used it yet).  Can this work as an electrum like thin client?

Anyhow, name services built into all clients will be huge.

I'd love to send gold to microguy or microguy@goldcoin or some similar name.

At least it sucks that it's not a default in a lot of the major clients.  Heck it might be a good idea if you were forced to create a new name when you create a wallet.  I dunno but the lack of default name services in bitcoin clients is slowing progress to digital currencies imo.

Using a name system like this (microguy@goldcoin) would probably require a centralized database of names and addresses.  This would avoid duplication of names, but also associate the name with the correct address.  This system would not be trustless.  A hacker could get into the database and change all the addresses to his own address.  This is not a secure method.

A second means of doing it would be something like what namecoin does, in that it uses the blockchain to store the name data.  This could be used to associate the name with the address and avoid having multiple addresses with the same name.  Light wallets such as the GoldCoin app wouldn't have access to this data and would not able to use it.  Nevertheless, this method is as secure as the rest of the blockchain is.
