Need Help CPU Mining | Hello GLD Community
« on: November 19, 2013, 01:12:41 AM »
Hi GLD Community,

I am completely new to this whole mining thing. I am not new to the idea of BTC (I knew about BTC and almost put $1000 into it when it was at $10 a coin, but a friend talked me out of it doh!), as I am a student of the market. I will be hopefully bringing my financial background into this realm.

I am also an avid Gold and Silver guru.

Nice to meet everyone and to Microguy, you have a good video on Youtube.

Can someone help me. I have a Intel Core I5 and I am trying to Pool Mine using CGminer. ( I am pretty new at this so be gentle)

I go to type in the URL of the pool : stratum+tcp://goldcoinfor.me:3335

then I type in the username.worker that I use.

Then I type in my password for that worker.

Then the GUI takes me to a new screen but I am not sure if it is mining anything. I don't know if a screenshot of my gui would help.

I am just a little confused, if someone could help me out a little, I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you in advance.

The little cmd (GUI screen) or whatever you call it (I am a complete newb), says this repeatedly

Pool 0 difficulty changed to 16
Probing for an alive pool
Network diff set to 1
[today's date and time] Stratum from pool 0 detected new block
[today's date and time] Stratum from pool 0 detected new block
[today's date and time] Stratum from pool 0 detected new block
[today's date and time] Stratum from pool 0 detected new block

Does this mean it is working? If so, how do I view and watch my metrics b/c the dashboard on the website that I use (goldcoinfor.me doesn't seem to be reflecting this data, if I am doing everything right).

Thanks so much for any help.

If your going to CPU mine I highly recommend you use ScryptMiner GUI, I use it myself. It is slow mining Goldcoin with your CPU's, but this will work and add to your total KH/s if your using a pool.

Thanks ipaint for the tip. I will try to take the next few hours to fully understand what you have told me.

When I click on the ScryptMiner file an error comes up saying "System Error"

"The program can't start because libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. "

I'm willing to donate GLDs to you if you can help me get setup. Thanks.

Which link did you download from Windows, Linux - Ubuntu? I used Download r10 (Windows)

If you need the file I have it. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you, if you want.

Never mind I attached it below. You can download it.

Thanks ipaint. I'm running windows 7, 64 bit (core i5 processor). I will give it a spin tonight, and let you know how it goes.

Keep in mind, my experience with GUI is playing Halo with the HUD which resupplied our health. Cortana did everything for us ;)

So its a miracle that I have gotten to this point so far haha.

I posted info in the How To section for the ScryptMiner, it's real easy to use.

I take it your not using a video card? If you not I would guess you have integrated graphics. You can use the GPU's from your graphics and mine using them. I use them on my PC.

I use BFGminer 3.1.4 and here are my settings for the conf file. It might give you about 40 Kh/s or so. It all depends on your system.
