Project Development Board on Trello
« on: March 25, 2014, 04:33:48 PM »
Today Viscis made the community a nice project development board on Trello with various tasks and goals.

Link: https://trello.com/b/s0hEvXYH/current-goals

This board (and this thread) will help us keep track of current goals, delegation, and task progression.

Please feel free to share your suggestions and ideas and let's all work together to fully leverage the available talents and community assets at our disposal.

Yes! Please post your suggestions and comments (those posted now are mostly for filler). I'd like to hear from everyone and heres some questions to help get people thinking.

N.b. Don't answer the questions directly! They are to make you think about GoldCoin and what features we could add.

1. What do you think is the most important feature of other crypto currencies right now?
2. When you first found goldcoin, did you find anything hard or difficult to understand?
3. As a community, what sort of things should we be trying to achieve?
4. Have you used the android app? If so, is there anything that could be improved?
5. Have you seen anything that other coins provide that we currently do not? (e.g. block explorer website)
6. What other avenues of social media have we missed out?
7. Is there an exchange you've heard of that we are not listed on?

As an incentive for community support I also suggest the following:

- I will leave this thread open for a week for anyone to post ideas and suggestions.
- After one week, a poll will be created and for one more week people can vote for the best ideas
- For the most popular idea, 250g bounty
- For three runners up, 50g bounties each!

Help make GoldCoin the front runner and earn GoldCoin!

Well, risking the "captain obvious" award, my suggestion is
1) Primary decentralized exchange. Maybe even to act as a "market-maker" setting prices for other "off chain" exchanges somehow..as this would represent what someone is willing to pay "in the real world"
The only real decent implementation I have seen of this so far is the "Mycelium" bitcoin wallet. The test-net version is currently working on a "Local bitcoins" integration within the wallet app. Since anytime fiat is exchanged, gov must be involved, this peer to peer method is the only real way to avoid any and all centralized exchanges.
This would also fall under the category of "suggestions for the android app"

Hope this "helps"
(i just wanted to put one more word in quotes)

I think one great thing for the main website would be a language selector similar to the one for this coin  http://potcoin.info/

This is a great thread.

I'm getting my feet wet today learning how to use Trello and how to update the project board.

Idea: One thing I notice the Dogecoin community doing is tipping quite a lot. I think tipping is a great way to show our appreciation to others when they do a good job.

Honestly first I think we need to decide what the soul of this coin should be:

Originally I thought the point of GoldCoin would be to become a force in digital currency.  If this was the goal then really the whole point is to have people use it for . . . well money.  Businesses and individuals must start accepting it in exchange for goods and services.

Now after the IRS ruling, it seems like the future for GoldCoin may be as . . . well gold.  You can't go out and give people a bunch of gold (realistically) but it is the most tangible form of wealth I can think of.  If this coin's future is a form of digital gold (totally fine in my mind).  We need to change up the way we have been thinking I think.  And I am not sure what to do about this.  Forming the impression of intrinsic value in something is not I am familiar with. (really like the 51% defense)

To me it is difficult to answer the questions asked in this thread without first coming to this so called "fork in the road"

Goldcoin excels as both a currency and as an asset class (or digital commodity).

As the regulatory environment changes, I feel we can simply taylor our marketing efforts to highlight our strength in that environment. Goldcoin's intrinsic value can be correlated to its community size, name, desirability, code design, and future potential. It already has substantial intrinsic value. One key to increasing this value is by growing the network/community and educating the consumer. I think there are some lessons to be learned from the Dogecoin community in this area. There should also be some advancements on the client side emerging soon.

Here's an excellent article I saw today related to intrinsic value: http://www.coindesk.com/professor-susan-athey-people-use-bitcoin-intrinsic-value/

As far as the soul of the coin, most people seem to prefer to think of it as, "The Gold Standard of Digital Currency".

My suggestion is that the trello board (great idea btw) be integrated / linked to the main website under a 'project' tab, then as touched on by @Viscis above, incentivised by allocation of bounties - especially for those 'one off' type tasks that require particular skills.
Ultracoin have done something similar with a bounties page on their website, probably other coins too though I've not looked widely of late.
We could then draw attention to projects / bounties of all newcomers to the forums, when enthusiasm to get involved is high.
I'm both time/talent poor but would happily contribute GLD toward a bounties pool.

I'm not sure if its possible to integrate the trello board into the forum but this would certainly be a great idea, even if we mirrored some of the tasks and added specific bounties too them.

Will need further discussion but for now I've added it to the board.

i meant linking with the main website http://gldcoin.com/ rather than the forum, which is served fine by the 'project development' board.

this way casual browsers could also be encouraged to take part without needing to dig through the forum. I would link to the ultracoin page i mentioned as an example if i could, but the site appears to be down at the moment!

Nice idea. The Ultracoin page looks nice! (:D)

Once we can get a little more participation on the project board and establish a few bounties I'll get a link added.

Hey so I was thinking of taking on the monthly report task on Trello, but I am not sure how to become a member of Gold coin development?  Something I am not getting?

I'm new to Trello (Viscis is the expert) but I think you should now have access to the project board.
