Goldcoin Mining Issues
« on: October 21, 2014, 11:12:04 PM »
http://gld.minepool.net = 90 Mh/s (Down as from 1:42am SA time)
http://gld.hashfaster.com = 20 Mh/s
http://gld.cryptcoins.net = Down
http://gld.profit.farm = Down
http://gld.lifeforce.info = 0.04 M/hs

Pools Total = 110.04 Mh/s

GLD Net Total = 1357.093 Mh/s   !!!!

Difference = 1247,053 Mh/s !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At the moment gld.minepool.net is also down so the normal mining community has a total of 20 Mh/s out of 1357 Mh/s !!!

I moved away from Hashfaster as they where going down all the time or don't payout for days and now minepool.net is down as well.
Also hashfaster difficulty only goes up to 32 for mining and this means my Black Widow only gets 7 Mh/s instead of 14 Mh/s as by minepool.net, which has a difficulty setting of 1000. (Very frustrating)  >:(

I want to know where is all this extra power coming from and where are they mining.

Goldcoin cannot function like this when the people who tirelessly mine day after day get pushed out with almost no alternative place to mine  and then watch the difficulty climb in a day from 50 to 108 and then watch all our mining get orphaned.

What is going on here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to know where is all this extra power coming from and where are they mining.

There are many individuals and groups that control 1 GH/s and more who simply point their hashpower to various coins and mine until the difficulty becomes high, then they move on to another coin. They don't need pools.

In addition, the network hashrate is maintaining an increasingly higher average which is actually a good thing for Goldcoin. We can look at Bitcoin to see how mining will evolve over time. The smaller players will get squeezed out to a degree as commercial operations grow.

A new GLD pool.

Thank you for sharing. It's great to see new pools cropping up for our dedicated Goldcoin miners.  :)

A new GLD pool.

Just to make sure, this pool does not payout in Goldcoin,
but mines Goldcoin and pays out in Bitcoin.

Update on Pools

http://gld.lifeforce.info - Diff : 2048 (Good for above 20 Mh/s per ASIC - less Rejects)
http://gld.minepool.net - Diff : 1000 ( Good for above 10 Mh/s per ASIC)
http://gld.hashfaster.com - Diff : 32 ( Good for below 7 Mh/s per ASIC or GPU Mining )

These 3 pools are the only functioning pools for Goldcoin mining.

http://www.hashgoal.com/pool/GLD/ (Not Tested - If you want Bitcoin for Goldcoin then this is the first for direct Bitcoin payments via Goldcoin mining )

Also If the guys have more than 1Gh/s ASIC equipment i would request that they use some of that power to mine at the pools just to keep the smaller miners alive and interested in Goldcoin, they also want to feel they are earning something.

This i believe keeps the spirit of Goldcoin alive !!!

All of the Goldcoin pools should be suitable for GPU mining. Where are you getting those "Diff" figures and MH/s recommendations?

Has anyone tried contacting the pools that are down? I'll need to update our list of pools today. They are listed here, on the official website, and in the Bitcointalk announcement thread.

The figures im getting is from personal testing of each pool. The software im running gives a read out of the difficulty setting that is sent from the pool.

eg: if i use Hashfaster with my Black Widow, i get allot of rejects (HW errors) as the difficulty only goes up to 32 and the bandwidth usage is also very high as im sending allot of shares to the serve also the max Mh/s i get out of my 14Mh/s rig only goes up to 7Mh/s, while at gld.minepool which sets its Diff at 1000, i get allot less rejects (HW errors) and my bandwidth usage is minimal as im only sending the share info after a few seconds and i get the full 14Mh/s.

Where as if i use my GPU mining at Hashfaster they work perfectly as my Kh/s is much lower on them. (Not mining anymore though with them as the power usage is very high) and yes GPU can work at any pool, just i found they worked really well at Hashfaster with the low difficulty setting. :)

I must note gld.minepool.net which ive been very happy with, but they are down at the moment. Site working though, just cant mine, which i think is temporary !!!

At the moment im mining at gld.lightforce.info which has a VarDiff setting of up to 2048 and im barely getting any rejects or HW errors. Also they have a ShoutBox which lets you interact with people. Very happy with them at the moment.

Hope this helps. :)

I want to make a recommendation here for http://gld.lifeforce.info

I have been mining there now for a few days and i must say there pool is great.

I have invited more people over to mine for Goldcoin using there shoutbox and have gotten people to join the pool, its like a community of miners, and also the little tips a person picks up on from reading the posts are great.

Happy mining everyone :)
