Idea for Introducing Precious Metals into Goldcoin
« on: May 08, 2016, 07:32:52 PM »
Hello to all of you from the GoldCoin community!

I have been speaking with a few of you guys on Sundays meetings. I offered to post my business proposal in an attempt to initiate new ideas to the coin's community. This would involve the physical introduction of precious metals in the crypto currency. There are a few initiatives right now but nothing this intimate. I am posting links (mainly Youtube) for those who know little about this asset class and might give you some inspiration onto how we can make this all work together.

Hope to talk to you soon on the Sundays! Leave me some comments if you have more questions! I'll be happy to give you more information.

Here is the Dropbox link to my PDF presentation. It's a 30ish slide description that should speak for itself. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. We would love to hear from you this month of May and see if this could be a part of GoldCoin's future :)

Thank you for participating in yesterday’s team meeting. You are bringing a much-needed quality of professionalism and direction to our project; a fresh perspective that was sorely needed.

I feel we have a unique opportunity at this time in the currency’s evolution. Because of the minimal community engagement, it will be much easier for us to mold and shape the currency's direction, and to achieve majority consensus. I will work hard to ensure your precious metals idea receives support and acceptance, so that we may bring it to fruition with Goldcoin.

Your involvement and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated!

I fully support this idea.  I believe DigixDAO is doing something like this now but it's probably a very good idea to sell/trade gold coins using GoldCoin.

Yes Digix has done it before I had the chance to push my concept to it's conclusion. I think GoldCoin community must check first what are the values behind cryptocurrencies and what we want to promote as a sustainable monetary system for our future and grand kids future. This is more than just making a quick buck. I think we could work with Digix, but if they are funded by the Shanghai Gold exchange or they sell out to HSBC in a year from now we are pretty much in need of the same alternative to bug business/government.

I would like to invite you guys to this Sunday's presentation if you wish to learn more. My initial concept is different from Digix and tries to implement Satoshi's vision of money in the physical world. See you then :)

I really like this idea of building a precious metals application which can utilize the Goldcoin blockchain because it's non-disruptive, value adding, and comes with zero risk.

Building an application like this to run on our blockchain will also help to leverage and fully utilize the stable and secure network we've spent 3 years building.

i agree with microguy's "Because of the minimal community engagement, it will be much easier for us to mold and shape the currency's direction, and to achieve majority consensus".

however don't undervalue goldcoin's blockchain.  older chains that have survived til now are more valuable then most people even in crypto realise. especially now in a era where thousand of coins have been pumped out.

goldcoin's from an earlier era and survived the worst of the wild west times.  few coins now are as honest. also the name well its up there as one of the best possible.

It's great seeing so much activity from the longstanding community members.  :)

Today, someone asked a question on Quora about businesses using blockchain technology. So I gave a shot at answering:

Quote
The value of blockchain technology is born primarily from its ability for public implementation. Therefore, alternative currencies provide stable testing grounds for experimentation.

The Canadian startup Monsieur Bullion is currently working with the GoldCoin (GLD) currency to leverage its blockchain (public ledger) for record keeping. GoldCoin is a publicly traded currency on C-CEX: https://c-cex.com/?p=gld-btc

Under the plan, the Monsieur Bullion precious metals network will use the GoldCoin blockchain to track each user’s allocation of bullion ownership. In theory this should provide mutual benefit to each party.

The GoldCoin currency will benefit from having real world utility, while the precious metals company will have a public ledger and reciprocating network of human resources.

This looks like a nice implementation of storing data on the public ledger.

Why can't we apply this to the precious metals idea and store the data on the Goldcoin blockchain?
