June 5th, 2016 Highlights

~~

Decision to become Amazon Affiliate
We will be placing links and/or banners advertisements on the forum to help offset community expenses.

Community legal fund
A legal fund is being established in the event it should become needed. We're going to make Goldcoin the #1 digital currency, come hell or high water.  :)

Discussion about Cryptsy Coins
Today, we had an hour-long discussion about the Cryptsy coins and how to best rectify this situation. We all agreed that it's of paramount importance that these coins be returned to the original owners - and if that's not possible - returned to the community where the matter can be fairly and expeditiously handled. There was a multi-pronged plan developed that would achieve this outcome.

Client Syncing issues
It was discovered that a major seed node was down causing syncing issues for some clients. This problem was resolved during the meeting.

Coinomi and multi-wallet idea
We will be looking into the possibility of adding Goldcoin to a multi-coin wallet.

Coinomi and multi-wallet idea

Concerning this topic, I have a fair amount of knowledge.  Adding GoldCoin to the source code of coinomi will be relatively easy.  GoldCoin follows Bitcoin for the the parts (such as sending transactions) that are used by the App itself.  The hard part will be the Electrum servers that the app uses for all the other work.  This app maintains an HD wallet, and therefore all the addresses and keys.  It creates transactions and then sends those to the Electrum Servers, which handles all the rest of the functionality (syncing blockchain, etc).

I am not sure if we would need to do our own electrum servers or if the coinomi developers would set those up.  The instructions for setting up a server are here:  https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum-server/blob/master/HOWTO.md.  Of course, we would need to fork Electrum to work for GoldCoin.  It does use the daemon (goldcoind) to function.

We also have the option of forking coinomi ourselves and having it only support GoldCoin (and any other coins we might choose).  We would still need our own Electrum Server for GoldCoin, but could use the coinomi server list for the other coins.

Not sure if this would be easier to fork.  https://electrum-ltc.org/

This is the instruction page for adding a new coin to coinomi:
https://coinomi.com/AddingSupportForANewCurrency/

The hardest part appears to be setting up the electrum servers.  The link that tadspoles provided above was for a client.  Getting 2 servers setup would be the first and hardest part in my opinion.

I think this is the server component to the client.   Not sure if it helps.

June 19th, 2016 Highlights

~~

Record week for trygoldcoin.com
This week, trygoldcoin.com experienced record sales topping $800.00. We think this is a good way for early adopters to invest since they can use traditional payment methods to buy Goldcoin.

Goldcoin price passes 1 cent mark
The team talked about the importance of staying above this psychological barrier. When Goldcoin is trading above a penny, it provides users with a tangible relatable item.

Ethereum Exploit
The team talked about the current setback for the ETH developers and how to prevent such an event from occurring with Goldcoin.

Mining Strategies
Discussed today were various mining strategies and how to best allocate reward inflows. Holding some of the currency as investment while selling a portion is a good method of supporting the currency while also offsetting equipment costs.

June 26th, 2016 Highlights

~~

Bittrex Discussion
The team talked about the possibility of a Bittrex listing which would provide a higher volume platform for our friends at Gold Club International. The desired time frame for a listing is one month.

GoldCoin App
We are very excited about the new Goldcoin App and discussed important features which would increase overall security and ease of use.

New Team Member
Introduction of our latest team member, Gilead Okolonkwo, who is responsible for expanding Goldcoin awareness and adoption throughout Africa.

July 03rd, 2016 Highlights

Team Members Present: Four (Cryptosolar, MicroGuy, GoldClub, and Sokolov323)
Length of meeting: 1 hour

~~

Please find a brief recap of today's proceedings below:

Development of Android application
Discussion about current progress of app development and the need for adding a Naira (NGN) exchange rate option. The first phase of the Gold Club adoption will be providing a bonus of 200GLD to registered club members who download the app. It is essential that these users have access to the exchange rate for their local currency.

Suspension of Open Workforce project
The Open Workforce has reached its planned end-life and will be shuttered. Active workers will be transitioned over to our global tip-based system. It was a great learning experience operating this project. The team would like to thank all of those involved for their contributions.

Goldcoin Plus+ Wallet Project
This week saw the launch of the new online wallet project that will feature an online wallet along with a companion mobile application. Goldcoin Plus+ will work like a basic version of the Blockchain.info wallet. We anticipate development work on this project to begin sometime within the next 2 weeks. Project thread: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3628.0

~~

I'd like to thank the team members who were able to attend today's meeting as we guide Goldcoin into the future.

July 10th, 2016 Highlights

Team Members Present: Four (Cryptosolar, MicroGuy, CryptoCanary, and Akumaburn)
Length of meeting: 1.45 hours

~~

Please find a brief recap of today's proceedings below:

Issues Related to Mining and Orphans
Our development team is still investigating the issues affecting Goldcoin mining production. We have yet to reach a consensus on how to best respond to the orphan situation. There are several potential ways of handling the matter, ranging from waiting for market capitalization to rise (which will increase network hashrate), to updating the code for improved handling of low-hashrate difficulty adjustments.

Proposed solutions so far:

1. Wait until marketcap rises which will increase difficulty, lessening the orphan issue.
2. Write code that would make the difficulty adjust faster in low hashrate situations. Basically, below 1GH/s the algo would perform one way, and above 1GH/s it would perform the way it does now.
3. Lease a rig to bring hashrate and difficulty up to the point that the orphan problem improves. Continue leasing the rig until the hashrate can self-sustain at 1GH/s or above.
4. Make improvements to the code that would basically tweak the existing difficulty algo and/or 51% defense code that would not be based on or triggered by some predetermined hashrate level.

GoldClub Progress
A brief overview of Goldclub was presented detailing their plans for increasing adoption and advancing Goldcoin throughout West Africa.

Public Image as it Relates to Miners
There exists the perception that the Goldcoin team does not care about miners. This is not the case. It is the miners that breathe life into the network by processing transactions and advancing the blockchain. We discussed how becoming more sensitive to the needs of miners, while increasing transparency, could help to improve this skewed perception.

Improved Github Software Practices
While Goldcoin is indeed "open source software" there are still areas of improvement to be made regarding Github collaboration, bug checking, and general software publication practices.

July 17h, 2016 Highlights

Team Members Present: Four (Goldclub, MicroGuy, OneoftheFreds, and Akumaburn)
Length of meeting: 2.75 hours

Please find a brief recap of today's proceedings below:

Team Meeting on Skype
Today we held our weekly team meeting on Skype rather than Discord. Since the Skype platform seems more familiar to our members, we will experiment with hosting our team meetings on Skype for the remainder of July.

Affinity Group Project
Alfred Jordan (aka OneoftheFreds) presented his vision for advancing Goldcoin adoption by empowering 21 million people who are members of an affinity group in the United States. The team discussed the necessity for developing a business strategy that would pave the way for financing a collaborative project of such size and scope.

New Android App
The latest Android application being developed by Stouse49 and tested by the community should be available on Google Playstore in early August. This week, the beta version was updated to support the NGN exchange rate as pictured below:

Gold Club Project
Gilead Okolonkwo (aka Goldclub) presented his vision for bringing Goldcoin education and adoption to West Africa through its affiliation with Gold Club of Nigeria. This week we will be looking into the possibility of having a physical Goldcoin created to be used as a collectible token.

Decentralized Core
Gilead reminded that as we look at raising money for various projects, it's important that Goldcoin remain independent and decentralized at its core. While like Bitcoin various dependent projects will be organized and built around its core, Goldcoin itself must remain autonomous and independent; its money supply fixed and unmovable.
