Hi - New Miner Here
« on: September 22, 2016, 04:56:32 PM »
So, my cousin spent a bunch of money on a KnC Titan miner and tells me to get it running for him and he'll split the profits 50/50 ... It's put together, has the newest firmware available for download (I want the good one that costs a little more but that's a side story), and he says, "Just get on an exchange to convert whatever coin to bitcoin and start mining."  But I feel like an old toaster that's being told to "just turn on the light switch."

I've been looking anywhere and everywhere I can for more specific instructions.  GLD is consistently #1 right now, so why bother with an inferior currency?  Thanks for taking the time to read this!  :)

Welcome to the GoldCoin community!  :thumbsup:

I'm not an expert in this area but I think any scrypt-based mining guide should be helpful. Keep in mind that profitability calculators are not always accurate since they can't predict a currency's future value. Based on the three-month chart, and the many various projects underway, I think that mining and holding Goldcoin would be the best strategy for maximizing profit.

You might also want to join our Facebook group. I've just made a post asking for responses to this thread. Best of luck with your mining endeavors and please let me know if you should ever need anything at all.

Hi, thanks for the reply and the facebook add.

A bit more info about the hardware, and a basic question I need answered either through calculation or observation.

There are 4 Titan cubes, and I think each one has 4 dies in it.  They are currently idling at 300 MHz.
So would that mean the total power of the hardware is 4800 MHz (300 * 4 * 4)?
If so, I can't afford to waste another second!  (I'm trying to make my last $10 last the rest of this month.)

The following forum contains Titan setup guides and general mining support: https://www.weminecryptos.com/forum/

You might want to try this Goldcoin pool to get started: http://sminers.com/

Code: [Select]
url = stratum+tcp://sminers.com:3340
quota = leave blank
account = gld address
password = anything (123456)

I'm not sure if the settings above will work, but you can give them a try. You should also check your firmware to make sure you have the best version.  :)
