Goldcoin Wikipedia Page Restoration

[MicroGuy]

Several years ago, when Goldcoin was a newly developing currency, the community created a Wikipedia page. This attempt failed because at that time Goldcoin did not have sufficient sources/news references.

Here is the old thread (read for background): https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=998.0

Now that there are several news sources, and even an entire book written, I think if we all work together we can have the page restored.

Here is deletion page on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Goldcoin

We might want to find an expert Wikipedia author who can help us with this process. Based on the depth of Goldcoin references today, we should have a good chance at getting our page back.

This morning, I will send out a newsletter pointing to this thread.

Today, I contacted a Wikipedia expert who provided the following analysis.

Hi Greg,

Unfortunately, from our research, there's just not enough in-depth earned press to pass Wikipedia notability requirements.

Wikipedia content is a by-product of what the press is writing about a subject. In order to pass Wikipedia’s notability requirement so we’re going to need to identify 7-10 in-depth articles (specifically, articles written almost entirely on the subject and not just in passing mention) to qualify for a Wikipedia page.

Blogs, press releases, product information or self-published materials cannot be used to qualify for notability.

As you’ve witness, articles that do not meet notability will be up for quick deletion.

Best,

So it looks like we might need to gain additional press before proceeding with the Wikipedia effort.

Hi Jay,

Thank you for your honest assessment.

There are a few articles in the works now, so I will keep this email and touch base again in the Spring once we have the needed sources.

Sincerely,
Greg.

I'm working with a couple of authors now on stories for Goldcoin. If anyone would like to share a news link, please feel free to reply below.

I stumbled on this link that gives us one more resource for a Wiki page:
