Greetings from Canada
« on: November 11, 2013, 07:45:45 PM »
Just installed the client and trying to set up cgminer on my 7950 :)

I should probably post this in tech support, but is it necessary to manually port GLDcoin through my router?  UpNP doesn't seem to be working as I have had zero connections to the network since my install and -server opening of the wallet about an hours ago.

If I helped you with something or you're just thinking "that DerekB dude is awesome and he should shut up and take some of my GLD Coins", I am always happy donate, or just be awesome.

try going to your goldcoin.conf file   C:/users/your name/app data/roaming/goldcoin/goldcoin.conf      and add the port in there         rpcport=8122

Welcome to the forum! It's great to see you here! What took you so long? Lol

I'm forwarding port 8121 and 8121 in my DD-WRT router settings but not sure if that's required. It that doesn't help, you could start a thread in the mining section and I'll ask a developer to have a look.

Okay I rebooted my router and double checked the UpNP when I opened up GLDCoin, without server mode, and it's forwarding fine in the router and I have it unblocked in my firewall software, but it's still not grabbing any connections to the network.  I have tried it with both 8122, and 8121, and neither is allowing it to grab any connections to start DLing the block chain :(

@Microguy - what took me so long was finally having time to breathe from my two Brick and Mortar businesses and checking out (with immense surprise!!!) my long term crypto currency holdings, as well as some of the forks for potential, and I like what GLDCoin has going for it :)

Okay, I just deleted every last vestige of GLD coin from my PC, re-downloaded it from the site and installed it clean.  After I opened it, the connections thing flickered for about 30 seconds, then it grabbed one and started syncing up, so I'm good.

Now i just need to get a miner script going...

Okay, now a new issue.  I'm trying to set up for cgminer, but when I use the -server command to open GLD client, it comes up with a "you must configure rcuser= and rcpass=" message, even though I have tried this with both the preset hash strings, and my own entries.  no matter what I put into those fields it keeps coming up with that error message.

Anybody else have this issue?

I'm still a little sleepy so I might have missed it, but are you using windows?

You don't have to use any special startup switches as long as you have "server=1" in your config file. Here's my configuration file used to mine:

Code: [Select]
rpcuser=put_your_username_here
rpcpassword=put_your_password_here
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0
maxconnections=64
dns=1
checkpoints=1
listen=1
dnsseed=1
banscore=50
bantime=14400
addnode=50.116.22.43
addnode=88.161.131.83
addnode=24.70.184.213
addnode=208.115.109.157
addnode=72.200.175.240
addnode=192.241.134.49
addnode=76.10.147.84
addnode=150.101.174.85
addnode=212.124.68.161
addnode=82.20.48.48
addnode=199.201.106.33
addnode=78.145.71.105
addnode=209.172.25.95

If that doesn't help, please reply with your hardware details and OS version.

For solo GPU mining do the following steps:

*Make sure your wallet is synced and then close it.
*Copy all your files from ex " C:\Program Files (x86)\GoldCoin (GLD)" to C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming\GoldCoin (GLD)
*Make sure to update the goldcoin.conf file ex:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=192.168.0.102
rpcallowip=192.168.0.100
rpcport=8122
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0
maxconnections=64
dns=1
checkpoints=1
listen=1
dnsseed=1
banscore=50
bantime=14400
addnode=50.116.22.43
addnode=88.161.131.83
addnode=24.70.184.213
addnode=208.115.109.157
addnode=72.200.175.240
addnode=192.241.134.49
addnode=76.10.147.84
addnode=150.101.174.85
addnode=212.124.68.161
addnode=82.20.48.48
addnode=199.201.106.33
addnode=78.145.71.105
addnode=209.172.25.95

*Rund CMD = cd C:\Users\*****\AppData\Roaming\GoldCoin (GLD) enter
*goldcoind.exe -server

*Configure cgminer make sure not to use version above 3.7.2 as it dont allow GPU mining any more.

Alright we're all sorted over here :)  7950's humming along at an easy 450khash on a pool.

Thanks for the help guys.

I'm mining over at goldcoinforme. How's that pool relative to the other ones?

*Configure cgminer make sure not to use version above 3.7.2 as it dont allow GPU mining any more.

The pre-compiled downloads have the GPU (opencl) enabled.

If you are compiling yourself, just add the --enable-opencl switch when running configure, you will also need to add the --enable-scrypt switch to include the scrypt kernel.

hi,

have you more information about cgminer config for solo mining?

Thanks.
