Nevertheless, while searching through the Alternate Cryptocurrencies section on bitcointalk.org on May 15th, 2013, I came across the announcement post for gldcoin...

Progress update:

This morning I spent a few hours on chapters "May 2013" to "November 2013".  These chapters are currently in the final rough draft status in hard copy printed form.  Corresponding page counts are:

May 2013:                   10 pages
June 2013:                  12 pages
July 2013:                    8 pages
August 2013:              6 pages
September 2013:      6 pages
October 2013:           8 pages
November 2013:      10 pages

All the other chapters up to and including chapter "May 2014" are at the first rough draft stage. 

I await personal statements from Microguy and Akumaburn.  Others are free to submit theirs too, but I can only include about four or five (maybe six).

I would like prominent members of the GoldCoin community write a personal statement (250-300 words).  Please include answers to these questions:

1. How you discovered GoldCoin?
2. What attracted you to GoldCoin/cryptocurrency in general?
3. How you have contributed to GoldCoin?
4. Where do you see GoldCoin in the short/long term?
5. What is your most memorable about of GoldCoin since its launch on the 14th of May 2013?

This list of questions is by no means exhaustive, but I would prefer all to be answered in a manner which suits.  Please could MicroGuy, Akumaburn, AZIZ1977, Stouse49 submit their personal statements very soon.

1. How you discovered GoldCoin?

I first encountered GoldCoin while browsing the Bitcointalk.org Alternative Currencies forum.

2. What attracted you to GoldCoin/cryptocurrency in general?

Having a business background, I saw GoldCoin as an opportunity to build a currency that could compete with Bitcoin for consumer adoption.

Rarely does the contender with first-mover advantage maintain his or her leading position. Thus, if world history is any indication, it will be a bitcoin competitor that ultimately penetrates the mainstream psyche and wins the race of mass adoption. And the term "Gold" means value to billions of people worldwide, giving us the perfect brand and platform.

3. How you have contributed to GoldCoin?

From my perspective, GoldCoin is like a young child, and we the members of this vast community, its vital caregivers. Like a parent, I have tried to provide the basic needs for Goldcoin to succeed. When she falls and scrapes a knee, I apply the band-aid or whichever treatment is needed at the time.

If we all do our jobs properly, one day Goldcoin will mature and walk on her own - resilient, brilliant, and ever-strong.

4. Where do you see GoldCoin in the short/long term?

We intend to make Goldcoin free and decentralized and 100% Blockstream proof. We are building the bitcoin that Satoshi originally envisioned.

And while our competitors focus on micro transactions and payments, our focus is on enhancing the value-storage side of the equation. We have built a practical physical gold replacement that can be used by everyone today as a digital commodity. Our 51% attack defense and Golden River difficulty algorithm give us the strongest most robust blockchain in all of cryptocurrency.

Goldcoin truly is the gold standard of digital currency, a safe haven for value in a turbulent world.


5. What is your most memorable about of GoldCoin since its launch on the 14th of May 2013?

This experience has taught me the invaluable lesson in the resolve of the human spirit, the strength of unity, and the unlimited potential of teamwork. When a person is able to see beyond himself and focus attention on serving the greater good of the community - magic happens, mountains move, and Goldcoin and the world change for the better.

When I think back over the past three years, this is the lesson that reflects strongest in my mind.

1.  I was trading alt-coins regularly on BTC-E and Cryptsy; the latter is how I found it.
2.
Primarily, it was the name itself that attracted me to GoldCoin/GLD. I mean I just didn't think the other coin names were viable for use by the masses.
As for crypto-currency in general, a Facebook friend of mine mentioned Bitcoin to me back in Feb of 2013. We're not counting time-travel paradoxes are we?
3. I have been its lead developer for all but the first month or two.
4. Short term we have definitely some marketing challenges to over-come, but I do see us in the top ten crypto-currencies very soon. Long term? Well I can't see the future right?
5. That'd have to be the hiring of the "Hobos" on Cryptsy chat.. those were some good times!

1.  I discovered Goldcoin in 2013 on Bitcointalk forum.
2. The main reason was its name and a new alt with huge potential.
3. I tried to promote the coin. I mined it for months. I bought tens of thousands of GLD on Bitcointalk before it was traded on an exchange.
4. Short term we will  be a low volume traded alt around 750-1000 sat. On the long term i still can see a huge potential GLD can grow to be a top 10 alt.
5. That GLD survived 100's of alts. ;-)

One day the people of earth will turn these pages to learn about the pioneers of the World's great money - the Gold Standard of Digital Currency. As we travel through this wonderland of life, it is only in the future when we have a chance to reexamine the past.

Could anyone please help find out when GLD began to trade on Bittrex?  As far as I know, it was between 21st-28th March 2014, but I am not quite sure.
