Is there anybody else who would like to submit a personal statement (please see previous posts of this thread for the relevant information)?

I've just sent personal messages to Tadspoles and Kelsey to see if they are able to make statements.  :)

Thank you.  Very much appreciated :)

Chris Thompson will be publishing his new 2016 GoldCoin Book later this month.

He is now requesting personal statements from a few current community members detailing how and why they became interested in GoldCoin (GLD). This is your chance to have your words recorded in the annals of cryptocurrency history.

As an added bonus, if your statement is one that Chris selects for the book, I will personally send you 2,500 GoldCoins. So be sure to make your statement "book worthy" and also to include your GLD address.

~~
Please post your personal statement and GLD address below.

Chris is now asking for current members of the GoldCoin community to write a personal statement (250-300 words).

Please include answers to these questions:

1. How you discovered GoldCoin?
2. What attracted you to GoldCoin/cryptocurrency in general?
3. How you have contributed to GoldCoin?
4. Where do you see GoldCoin in the short/long term?
5. What is your most memorable about of GoldCoin since its launch on the 15th of May 2013?

This list of questions is by no means exhaustive. So feel free to answer in a manner that suits.

Ok this is my story not too interesting like other hehe i just crypto enthusiast  trying to find my spot on crypto as trader as translator or even as part of developer one of coin (will not say's that name here)

1. How you discovered GoldCoin?

This maybe missing some part because it was 2 years since i am here. So the first time i hear gold coin is from Mr. Microguys Fb post. For the first time i see this coin have constant miner out there. And that was the required for altcoin to be still exist.

2. What attracted you to GoldCoin/cryptocurrency in general?

For me Goldcoin as cryptocurrency have a perfectly name for digital currency. And beside that stability of network also constant miner was the most important. Also Goldcoin use the same way as real-gold to be exist. And Gold? I can tell you that Gold was exclusive.

3. How you have contributed to GoldCoin?

Until now, not much i can do. Since the first time join to this forum i was offering my self to be moderator of my language session on this forum. And was very inactive for about almost 2 years :( shame on me. But now i try to get back because again mr. microguys was impressed me with his loyalty with this community.

4. Where do you see GoldCoin in the short/long term?

I bet on long term. This community have great people like mr. microguy and other people whose constantly work hard to make this coin still exist. 2 years since i am not here. I think this forum was inactive but guess what? it still here and still active same as dev and the member of community. Loyalty was expensive thing and from this thing also from the existing of the Goldcoin i still believe that just like bitcoin people will realize how valuable this coin and in that time many people was too late. I hope i am still here when that time happen.

5. What is your most memorable about of GoldCoin since its launch on the 15th of May 2013?

To be moderator was the most memorable thing i ever have in this community. And i can tell that from this community i got my confident of my self and make me brave to make my self trusted able. And can do big think out there. And for the seconds time this community once again impressed me with the loyalty of their member. I still cannot believe that. But there it is. And i can say "I am Proud to be Part of Goldcoin History"

The following is a statement submitted to me via email by Alty who was an original member from the 2013 era.

Quote from: Alty
I discovered this thing called Bitcoin in September 2013. After figuring out how to buy some (which was not an easy process for a first timer), I instantly became fascinated with how it was fluctuating in price. I found Bitcointalk and discovered that there were other coins like Bitcoin and they were called Altcoins.

I also discovered there was this site called coinmarketcap.com and I thought about how any one of the 30 or so coins that were listed at the time could also become like Bitcoin and shoot up in value at literally any time... Looking down that small list of coins on coinmarketcap there was one name that struck my eye. GOLDCOIN. Wow, I was in love at first sight with the name and had to find out more about it.

Following the links on coinmarketcap and discovering that GLD had their own thread on Bitcointalk but also their own forum I couldn't wait to get my hands on some. After asking a few questions I was directed to a cryptocurrency trading site (an exchange) called Cryptsy. That site was legendary back then, esp during the highs of 2013. The cryptsy trollbox (chatbox) was going crazy with comments about different cryptocurrencys and it was a bit daunting for a new person at the time, but such fun. There were very little hiccups via deposits and withdrawals for a while but sadly a bit later things started going wrong for Cryptsy and it doesn't even exist anymore. Now... I transferred some of my Btc to Cryptsy, ignored what everyone was saying in the trollbox and went straight for Goldcoin. I bought a very nice amount. Let's say I put the equivalent of $2000 into Goldcoin at that time, I'd never done anything like this before and it was SO exciting. When I bought in I noticed other people started talking about it in the trollbox and some of them started buying in too. The experience GLD and seeing people reacting was amazing, exciting and most of all..such intense fun!

Goldcoin was the first altcoin that I ever bought... and I have traded, many, many others since. It was partly responsible for setting me up on a long and exciting Crypto adventure. But at the time when I bought it I had no idea what was going to happen the month or so after.

I wanted to get pro active in Goldcoin and helped out making a French thread and various other things that would be engaging  or helpful for the community. Goldcoin had a great community back in 2013 and whenever I check back to look at the forum I'm always so glad to see it's still active. Greg was the person I saw as being the face back then. After nearly 3 years, it's awesome to see that he is still is the same goldcoin advocate that he's always been. Greg's youtube videos and enthusiasm for Goldcoin soon got me hooked and I became an instant fan of the goldcoin report broadcasts.

Things were going from strength to strength for crypto as a whole back in 2013 and my $2000 goldcoin stash was suddenly worth tons more... TONS more. As much as I loved the coin, I'd never made money that fast and against my heart decided to sell my precious Goldcoins to somebody that saw the same thing I did when I first purchased them.

I always keep an eye on GLD and hope for the days it rises above many of the other coins with half the community and commitment that are somehow above it on coinmarketcap. GLD will rise again, as everyone knows the name is just too good not to. Lot's of people are waiting for an occasion to jump back in and it will happen. It's just a question of when combined with the never ending persistence that I think the dev team and Greg have shown.

yeah sure why not.

Got into goldcoin back in 2013. At the time my life was in tatters, had lost my job, my home and my g/f.  Being so depressed all the time i had to get creative in order to pull my mind out of the gutter. Having already been an avid fan of bitcoin from the early days, I was keeping up with everything crypto related . One night at around 4am, in a depressive state, i was watching a tutorial on how to use GIMP, an open source image editing software program. It was in French, to make it even harder. I got frustrated, gave up  and started watching crypto related videos. That's when i came across this very excited guy who called himself Micro guy.

The more I watched his videos, the more intrigued I got and less depressed I felt. His enthusiasm was infectious.  Even though this guy was making a lot of sense, he just seemed a little bit crazy. I do like crazy so i decided to join his forum.  It was a small community at the time but they welcomed me with open arms.
Goldcoin then became my life.

I put my head down, got to grips with the image editing software and started making as many promotional images as time would allow for Goldcoin.  I wanted other people to be as excited as i was for this crypto currency.  I started posting t-shirt designs for fellow members, promotion images for the 100,000 block ( which after, goldcoin became '51% attack' safe). Banners ads, fake magazine covers, 'Goldcoin accepted here' logo for people to use on their websites. A bunch of abstract goldcoin images and plenty of images promoting the forum and the official website.
It didn't seem like enough though.

I had no job, so with plenty time on my hands i embarked on making the first goldcoin game.
It was a side scrolling shoot em up. Micro guy was manning the gold cruiser, making his way through the game, killing various other Alt coin space ships  like bbq coin, pandacoin, 42coin and others, you know, getting rid of all the trashcoins. I documented my progress in building the game on the forum and it really seemed to lift everyone's spirits. Unfortunately, I was the only person to play the game. At around 90% completion, my harddrive failed and so too did  6 months of my work.
Even though the community were nice about it, I still cringe when I think about it.

All in all, Goldcoin has been a hell of ride with plenty memories. Probably one of the coolest was 'Dec 12th 2013' when Goldcoins marketcap reached over 3.5 million and was worth over 12 cent a coin. Im sure it was around that time Micro guy promised to reenact the naked Miley Cyrus wrecking ball video, on condition goldcoin hit 1 dollar in price. So we all have that to look forward to still.

I have some other memories of an intense rivalry we had with the alt currency called BBQcoin. The coin was useless, it wasn't the least bit inventive, yet it made it into a mainstream media newspaper article.  At the time, even bitcoin had trouble getting any attention so they were extremely lucky. What followed were weeks and weeks of Coinmarketcap battles between BBQcoin and Goldcoin. One day, BBQcoin would be just above goldcoin, the next day, Goldcoin would jump back in front. Bear in mind there were only about 30 crypto currencies at that time, competition was fierce.

In the long term, Goldcoin will definitely be a well known and widely used crypto currency. No doubt in my mind. The name is just too universally known and understood to mean a great store of value.  Crypto currencies are still a new revolution, once the rest of the world catches up, they'll be wanting some Goldcoin.
my wallet is  like an onion, I cant open it without crying.

Two months ago, I made the first step by joining c-cex chatbox, I had the chance to know Mr Microguy who is known for his obvious hospitality. GOLDCOIN was the first currency that I used in trading and it was my opening to Trading world. Microguy has suggested to me to work in Workforce to make Goldcoin the first currency worldwide which I believed in and I still. now I'm in charge of the exchange relations and I'll do anything for its best interest.

Greetings all, interesting and productive know that every day is sponsoring the world of GLD , since I met MicroGuy , said in 2015 in a haphazard way I said it was one of those people who allow this world of virtual currencies is increasingly tangible and from there I started to investigate more about this new way of doing business , as I am conducting a study of all this and meet Goldcoin has been very good at it as I have podidi advance methods and business applications in this type of coins .

I'm interested in learning more every day and bring my knowledge of the subject to any study based on virtual currencies and especially GLD , and his followers.
