Lets have a separate app with a distinctive name to show the difference from the old to the new.


For us in Nigeria we have not started loading any app at so we will be alert users on the difference and if you choose to have the 2 provided the names are different it will not be a problem for us.

we needed make the name stand out.  and communicate the benefit or functionality of the apps version.

If we go this way, we will need a new name and a new icon.  Some of the apps for Bitcoin and others have cool names besides "Bitcoin Wallet".  There are things like Blockchain, Airbits, Samourai, Jaxx, etc.

It seems the best method is to have the New Android app as an upgrade for the old android app.

Today, I fixed the rest of the BTC icons.

Another thing the app will lack is in the translations.  Some languages, such as those that are not latin based, will still say Bitcoin.

I will propose that the new Goldcoin Android App should be ready by September 10 to be published on Google Play to replace (upgrade) the current wallet app.  This means that the development should be complete by September 1.  The only feature that needs completing from that I can tell is the paper wallet sweep using the Chainz block explorer.  Between Sept 1 and Sept 10, we will have testing by volunteers before we publish for all to upgrade.

Before you download this new version read these disclaimers:
Always back up the keys or wallets before trying any of this:
1.  This version replaces the old wallet (v1.16)
2.  This app cannot import the wallets from the previous test versions (4.58.x).  Send those coins to another wallet.

In the next version of the app, it will request the GLD price from the following exchanges in the order listed:
1.  Bittrex
2.  C-CEX
3.  Cryptopia

I can confirm that https://github.com/Stouse49/goldcoin-wallet/releases/tag/v4.58.2a-beta is working well, and i was able to install, snyc and receive goldcoin within under 30 minutes.

This is good news as we get confirmation that the official app is ready, we will update a pop up in gold club to all user to download the app to complete their profile from the play store and tire that to their account. that way if we have 1 million members in gold club all must download the app and attach their receiving key Id to their account.


The app will be a must use !!! as the system already converts 10% commission to gold coin which if you must have access to it you must download the app.

I'll send a newsletter out now asking the community to test installing the app over the current one and then to provide feedback here.

I was able to install in my Huawei smartphone and I try to accept goldcoin in under 5 minutes from the C-CEX. worked very well

Thank you for testing the app! 

But the current exercise is to install the new Android app over the existing app and to post the results. You can find the current app on the Google Playstore and the new app in a link a few posts up in this thread. Thank you.

This morning I performed the upgrade and everything went smoothly except the Goldcoin icon disappeared from my home screen. This was an easy fix as I simply clicked on the "Apps" button to locate the application and move it back to my home screen.

My previous balance is correctly reflected and the list of previous transactions is present. When opening the updated app, the user is shown a reminder to backup the wallet. Once the backup has been completed, this message disappears.



I was thinking the new app had a pincode feature when sending? However, I cannot find a setting to activate this feature.

That's all for now. I'll continue testing the App and will report any additional findings in this thread.
